Extractor tip question

Mr. T, on the clean ones I've seen it looks like it follows the angle of the ramp cut under the locator pad and looks like it aligns with it. They are done on a CNC and if the timing of the fixture or the arm moving is off, it could make that cut. But............I dunno.

Another one from a different angle:

it could just have been a relief cut.there are numerous variations of the parts depending who made it.put an empty shell in there snd see if it even touches the rear of the extractor where the cuts are.basically,it slips over the rim with the ejector pushing on the other side to pop it out.

I agree with Kruzr. Not right, but not unusable, so they used them.
As one old style machinist said of digital control machines, get a number wrong and they will turn out scrap faster than ever before.

I think Kimber has a "dark side" and the loves to experiment with the extractor part of the 1911. :D Why else would they take a perfectly good, one piece, extractor design and "screw around" with it trying to turn it into a "better" external, 3-piece version. It worked but what was the point? ;)

Looking at the bright side?

If the extractor hook breaks clean off that one there, and you reload?

You have a ready made primer pocket reamer for free.
