What are the odds? About three weeks ago I bagged a Savage 99 from Gunbroker and yesterday I took delivery on a S&W in 32-20 (also from GB) and it turns out they were made in the same year. Already have another rifle made in 1910 and a Colt revolver from 1909. All of a sudden I have a passel of guns from that era.

Shot the new arrivals today and I have to admit that I enjoy shooting the classic guns far more than I do the modern guns. I think I should have been born 50 years earlier to have been around in what I see as they heyday of firearms and shooting, the 1910-1955 period.

Of course, if I had been born 50 years earlier in 1905 I'd either be dead or 107 right now. Probably be dead...

These were a hoot to shoot and at $387 and $239 respectively there's no guilt in the purchases.

Oh, those are sweet!! Enjoy yourself before you are 107 again!! LOL!

What is this guilt from purchases you speak of? :D

Congrats on using gunbroker successfully, love to hear about guys beside me enjoying that online auction service!

Those are awesome, great find..................32 is one of my favorites & the .303, well kind of speaks for itself.

Nice finds! I have always had more than a passing interest for a Colt or S&W in .32-20.

Military & Police Model (K frame). The 6.5" barrel and round butt frame makes it look a bit odd. The 32-20 is too long to fit an I frame cylinder length.

Here's one to add to your collection. A Winchester Model 1910 in 401WinSL.

I've been drooling lately over a Savage 99 for a while now, but I've got a hankering for a 250-3000. You got a great deal. Good for you. And if you reload, everything is new again. MidwayUSA still sells 303 Savage Brass.

Hello friends and neighbors // Nice, finding the 99, do you reload for .303 savage, or is someone making it again?

The S&W, M&P is in amazing shape for a 1910.
Very nice snag save on both.
Congrats on the bargain, you would need to add at least another $100 for either locally.

Well, I thought I was reloading the 303 but the Lee dies I bought self-destructed after 100 rounds. I prefer RCBS but this caliber is a special deal with them and cost $160 when they make them which isn't all the time so I tried the $30 Lee set. Live and learn. Now looking for the RCBS product.

I did send the damaged die back to Lee to see what they will do (if anything) but even if they repair or replace it I still like RCBS much better.

I like the dedication you bring to shooting, that is a good bit of effort to shoot one rifle.
I'll put the RCBS dies on my list for the gun show next weekend, unless you would prefer new.
Good luck with the replacement or finding the RCBS.

Are you reforming .30-40 Krag or .303 British, just curious, I have not reloaded much in years.

I have always loved the tacticool stud, but as I have grown, I continue to appreciate the classics more and more.
Old guns rule.
