Need advise on a used Dillon.

New, the SDB is just short of $400.

Cartridge change over are around $100. But, go to the Dillon web site to get more details on a cartridge change kit.

Make sure it has the primer system with it. It should have parts for both large and small primers.

Dillon will rebuild the press. From what folks say, it is usually pretty reasonably priced.

I have two SDBs, one 45 ACP and the other 9x19. They perform well.

Used with possible parts missing I would say $300 max.

I've seen them go (recently) on Ebay for $150-250. Naturally, on the lower side they might be missing the powder measure, but I've seen some decent complete ones going for $175-200 without conversion kits.

Chances are if there's anyone else there who reloads and knows the Dillon name, they're going to pay high, sometimes MORE than retail: as I've also seen on a few auction sites or classifieds. There's a sucker born every minute.

But, as someone else said before me, Dillon will rebuild the machines; sometimes for free.

Keep in mind that if there are any broken or missing parts, then Dillon will replace those for FREE. Dillon has the lifetime warranty on the PRESS, not the owner. There is a small cost to rebuild a press, but all replacement parts are FREE with a phone call.

Of course, I would tell the auction people this !

I don't think Dillon will replace "missing" parts for free. They will certanly take care of any broken or malfunctioning parts.

The missing parts thing is like "Hi, I bought a RL 550B but it only came with the powder measure... can you just send me the rest of it at no charge?"

I'm at the Dillon factory probably once a month and they are great folks to deal with. I own a 550 and it's a great machine. But I don't buy that they will give you parts you don't have unless they are minor consumables.

I sent my 550 back to them that i bought off a guy.. They refirbished it, and replace close to $200 worth of missing parts for free. Parts like missing caliber conversion parts, primer straws, stuff like that, whole new powder assemply and primer assembly. Missing low primer setup etc....

The older SDBs were 1 Pc. frames. The newer SDBs have a removeable tool head. I would think an older 1 Pc. frame would be worth much less.

Download the manual with the parts breakdown and print it out, so you can verify all the parts are there.
