I use a Crossbreed supertuck for my full-size 1911, and it works great.

Someone is going to come in here and tell you that your gun is too big to carry. Ignore them. Or try something else if you want to. Just realize that plenty of us carry full-size guns every day, use what you shoot best.

Holsters are pretty personal, of some research on the pros/cons of each type.

I will say this though; Buy a good belt. That's a pretty big gun you're planning on carrying! A proper belt us going to be a must, or you'll never find a comfortable holster.

I also have two desantis holsters, like them very much. Compact kimber and sp 101,very well made and comfortable to have on. I did a lot of searching before I settled on what I bought. My friend has two XD s, and he liked mine so much ,he bought them for his guns.

Smalls , Your so right on the belt issue!! It took me almost two years of going threw pretty good belts,I thought. Before I found a amish leather shop.He made me two real belts, 1.5 inch for under $30.00 One black one brown, been pushing two years now, still like new ...Can not beat a good belt!!!!

Thanks, guys. I went through 2 belts, then a "gun belt", then finally bought a gun belt as soon as I bought my 1911, and realized what a difference it makes, especially on my back. I actually need to buy an even stiffer belt than I have now for carry in shorts/t shirt.

Crossbreed Supertuck. Pretty sure they have a gun belt as well. Excellent Customer Service!

L O L...See what you did Deconed...I hope you realize that there are too many holster styles and makers to lit here. And all of them are the best for you.

Have a ball and join the rest of us that have a drawer full of holsters that didn't work.

I'll reinforce the chorus that with a good holster and belt you can carry basically anything.

I recommend not just a quality gun belt but a Kydex reinforced one. Believe it or not the stiffer a gun belt is the more comfortable and effective it will be. I currently use the reinforced version of the Wilderness Instructor Belt. Prior to it I wore a Comp-Tac reinforced leather gun belt. I find the Instructor Belt to be more comfortable when seated in a church pew or other hard-backed seat as it is much thinner than leather. It was also significantly less expensive than a quality leather gun belt and doubles as a load-rated *emergency* repelling/safety harness.

I carry my XD45C in a Comp-Tac MTAC IWB and it works extremely well for me. I doubt you could go wrong with any of the hybrid leather/Kydex IWBs unless you buy one of the really cheap ones. From my reading on the forums it seems like a huge percentage of people have switched to CCW in hybrid IWBs so I recommend starting there. People like to say that you'll end up with a drawer full of holsters that don't work for you but I think if you start with a quality hybrid IWB your chances of purchasing just one holster for a particular gun are much better. I own two holsters for my XD, the POS belt holster that came with it and the MTAC I've been carrying daily for ~5 years.

Yup. Start with a good gun belt. Personally, I like the Wilderness 5-stitch Instructor belt. Even a great holster will feel like junk if you try to support it with a mediocre belt.

Another vote for FIST holsters. All of mine are hybrid versions...leather exterior and kydex interior. GOOD stuff!
