I came across these after doing some trading and leatherwork for an old gentleman that I see at local gun shows a lot. He told me that the next time I came by his house, he'd open the "good" safe for me. I didn't know exactly what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

Here's four that I picked out. He's getting out of the gun shows and thinning the herd a little. I wish I could afford to keep these four for myself, but these are a bit out of my league. Ill be posting each for sale sometime tonight or tmrw. I've got a ton of pics and details for each.

There's the following:

1903 4 3/4" 45LC with antique stag horn grips - image_zps0003fe67.jpg

1924 4 3/4" 45LC - image_zpsa38f3847.jpg

1928 7 1/2" 45LC - image_zps4657eab8.jpg

1905 7 1/2" 32WCF - image_zps293168f1.jpg

How is that at this time of the year in upstate new York you can take pictures with summer background like this.
Great pictures by the way

Dang, I would be excited to handle one of those revolvers, let alone own all four, even if just temporarily. Which is your favorite?
It was 68 degrees here in nw Washington yesterday, sunny as summer. Felt eery.

Another vote for the .32-20 built in 1905. There's just something about a SAA chambered in that cartridge that catches my interest every time.

Good morning everyone. Thanks for all the comments so far. I'd have to say that the 32-20 is also my favorite.

I've found a few discrepancies amongst the herd, as well as had a few pointed out by some very good collectors and trustworthy gentlemen. I knew about a couple, but with so very many nuances to the 1st gen., I'm going to post up pics of each and let everyone take a look. I'd like to gather as much concrete data on these before moving forward in any direction. I already know that the old fellow is going to be little disheartened about it, but better he find out from me than getting slapped with it by some other potential buyer one at a time.

I'd really appreciate any and all feedback on these. Everything from grips, sights, markings, colors, etc.. Thanks all.

First, I'll start with the 45 that we know has been reworked at some point. This one has the earliest serial number of the bunch. The barrel is an early 2nd gen; and the cylinder looks that way as well. My guess is that it was reworked sometime in the early 50s during the TV western explosion.

Next up is the 4 3/4" 45 Colt. At first glance it appeared to be original; however, it also looks to have a replacement barrel. The "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY 45" script supposedly didn't start until 1929. The serial number puts this one at 1924-25. Hard to tell that anything else is off. This is a toughy to me.

7 1/2" 32 wcf

Next up we have the 7 1/2" 32 WCF. This one appears to be all correct. Someone did say that the hammer checker pattern looks off, but I'm not certain. At first glance, the finish looks almost too good, but up close the detail and sharpness of the stamps and markings really look original.

I know next to nothing about these old colts, but I did notice that the wear on the left grip of the 7 1/2" 32 WCF is not consistent with the wear on the metal. Those grips look like they spent a lot of time on a holstered gun. The screw heads on the left side of the frame seem rounded, too.

I agree with MikeJackmin. The color of the grips looks different also. You might check for numbers scratched in the inside of the grips. It might be just a matter of mismatched grips, or the metal was redone and the grips left alone. Also, check that gun for a broken trigger; it is too far forward with the hammer down.
