I just got a new Fort Knox pistol safe, and am curious about potential moisture in it. It's being kept in my room, which tends to have a fairly stable temperature, but do I need to worry about potential moisture/condensation/humidity? If so, how do I take care of it? Would some silica on each layer do the trick?
Thanks!

How humid is it where you live? I live in Nevada so I don't have much humidity, but I still put a 'golden rod' in my rifle gun safes.

I use a Liberty rod (cheaper knock off of Goldenrod) and about 3 pounds of dessicant in my safe. Humidity is a non issue for me and most places I have lived.

My safe is a small one (holds 4 pistols) so I don't think I'll need pounds haha. So some silica dessicant is a good idea?

Your handgun safe is not sealed so it won't make a difference. Just oil your guns and check them every once in a while. Over time the foam might start deteriorating and cause problem, but that will take several years, if it even happens.

IP, I live in southern Nevada, and humidity isn't an issue here, even during the monsoon season, however I do use an abundance of silicon packets in all my gun vaults. Never had a problem with any rust.
