i am looking to buy a glock chambered in .45acp. i was seriously considering a Glock 30sf but now i am wondering if i should opt for the 30s model. i understand it has a slimmer slide, but i am wondering if it performs the same. i have heard conflicting reports about recoil ect. i was wondering if there is anyone here that might be able to shed some light on the subject to help me better define these two guns. thanks.

all the folks look and don't respond doesn't help. I've owned both. Best thing that could be done imo is make a 4th gen 30S
I hate the texture on the 3rd gens. I owned the 4th gen 30sf and loved it but wanted something a little thinner. I then bought the 30S and hate the grip texture. Just for the simple fact that I believe the 30S recoils a little more than the 30sf. So it just depends on if you'd rather have a smaller/thinner slide or the awesome texture of a gen 4. I took the high road (no pun intended) and just stippled my glock 30S. Now I enjoy it more.
Now to really confuse you, I shoot my 30SF better than my 30S and I don't know why.

Your Gen4 30sf has the dual RSA, which is supposed to reduce felt recoil. That might be why you shoot it better?

thanks for the feedback guys. i honestly did not know they made a 30sf in a gen 4. despite the recoil system......would the 30s have a snappier recoil because of the size of the slide? i guess i am leaning toward the smaller package of the 30s, but i might opt for the 30sf if it's a smoother shooter..........especially since i don't plan on doing an IWB carry on this one.

I have both the Gen 3 30sf and a 36. For giggles a few years back I put the 36 slide on the 30 frame and carried it for a week. The only thing I liked about it was that I could use my G-23 holsters with "my 30s". I felt no discernible difference between the two recoil wise.

If you're not going to carry it IWB, I personally see no reason to opt for the 30s.

I think it's funny the Gen 4 Glock 30 is never mentioned. The Gen 4's, no backstrap have slightly narrower grip than the preceding Gens. Regards to recoil, not bad at all.

yeah.....i never hear about the gen 4 30sf glocks. is it better to opt for a gen 4?
