I was at the Ohio Gun Collectors show last weekend and came across a very nice Smith & Wesson Pre Model 10 Round butt 2" inch that made me stop in my tracks. The Diamond Magnas are in excellent condition numbered to the gun, light cylinder ring and some light holster wear end of barrel. Other than that, she's a real beauty. I will get some pics and post.
I have always liked the K frame Model 10 M&P and this one has a round butt.
Serial number C 533xx. I think its probably a late 40's but not sure.
I see a lot of square butts but not many round butts on the pre model 10.
Any information on the serial number (date of manufacture) would be greatly appreciated and if you have pics of your 2" inch... Pre Model 10 round butt, i would like to see your pics....

Congrats on getting what sounds like a very nice M&P. Looking foward to the pictures.
The C serial number started in 1948 and your's comes from 48.
I picked up one recently myself but it is a sqaure butt.

Great find. On my list for some day - particularly the '48-ish transition type. I never see a round butt, that's a gem.

As an aside and not pertinent to your question, but I was at the same show too and picked up a nice Model 12-2, round butt. Gun shows aren't what they used to be but you can still find good deals on hard to find firearms if you exercise a little patience and do a little research. I don't know what you paid for it but you certainly ended up with a scarce Pre-Model 10 in nice condition that will always fetch a decent return on your investment.

Nice snag/save on the M&P snubbie, a rare find indeed.

One sold on GB last year for $1500.00.

I have one from 1929 but it has been polished and refinished.
It is the only one to pop up locally and I'm glad it found me but finding a better preserved one is still on the list.

Hope you enjoy shooting yours as much as i do mine.

Enjoy the search

S&w Pre Model 10 2" inch

I picked up this little gem for $525 , its a very nice pre 10 . The same show last year a picked up a beautiful Smith & Wesson Pre 10 5 screw S Series Nickel 2" inch long action from 1946 with original box. I have yet to see another one. I you keep an eye out at the shows ,and are in the right place and time, and a little luck, you can come home with some really guns.
