It seems like the Vickers slings need sling mounts...What if I want to install the Vickers sling with just the stock M4 holes?

The Vickers sling should work with basically anything. What stock M4 holes are you referring to?

You can simply thread it through the sling mounts/slots on any rifle or stock that is so equipped. Or you can thread it through a mount, such as a quick release mount or some such, and then attack that to the rifle.

I bought the MS3 and it works well. I haven't felt like I needed a padded sling yet, but if I get to that point I'll give the VTAC a try.

The horizontal slot on the area near the upper end of the stock, but below the buffer tube, the lateral screwed-on sling ring at the bottom of where I just said and the front lateral sling ring under the front sight base. Basically, the only areas you can really mount a sling on a stock AR. Can the Vickers slings be installed on them? Because from what I've read on the website, you need to install mounts, like where the castle nut is or on a picatinny rail.

Stock AR's come with all kinds of different stocks, handguards, rails, sling swivels, etc. There is no singular standard.

If it is designed for a sling to mount to it, you can mount the VCAS to it, I'll wager.

ChCx2744,

The VCAS slings can be attached to an M4 in a lot of different ways, and I have tried quite a few of them myself. The sling can be run through the slots in the standard M4 buttstock and side-mount sling loop under the gas block. My preference is to attach QD slings swivels and attach the sling at the butt of the rifle (I use VLTOR stocks, which have QD sockets), and at the close end of the hand guard with a QD socket attached to the rail.

The VCAS is the cleanest execution I have seen of an adjustable two point sling, and I use one daily. I haven't found a better sling for my purposes.

Here's how my VCAS is attached to my Spikes M4LE/PSA carbine:

Technically, I have a CTR stock on there now, but it's still connected the same way.

Well I'm waiting on my BFG VCAS to come in the mail. We'll see how it installs.

This might be boarder line grave digging but I figured I would add to this conversation with a new one point sling on the market, the HIT Sling.

Check out Advanced Gunslinger Armament and the HIT (Hybrid Instant Transition) Sling Mk II. It was built and designed as a one point sling but, with a picatinny rail system, it easily converts to a two point sling. Also, the sling has built in retention and it is sturdy. Being the brand new product it is, I'm working with my buddy (the US Navy SEAL) that designed this product to get the name out there, at the very least. It's price point is a bit higher than you were looking to spend but it makes up for that in quality and versatility.

Here is a quick video, take a look:

BFG VCAS appears to be the industry standard and is working well for me so far. But the post below about using a sling as a shooting aid is a lost art unless you're using a Garand. I wish there was a way to make the VTAC a shooting aid but as hard as I try I can't figure out how to do it.

I've used the Vickers and the VTAC. IMO, the Vickers is a better choice for smaller framed people like myself. The VTAC adjusts a bit more quickly.
Single point slings are for SBRs.

I love my diy strapworks 3 point sling

I've used the Vickers, VTAC and MS2. The VTAC is great but operates the wrong way for me (it seems more natural to pull the tab out to extend a la Vickers). The Vickers was top quality; but still a two point even with the slack out for alternate side I end up pulling the sling across my throat.

The MS2 is a brilliant idea - everything on it was well organized ergnomically, it just didn't hold up to use as well and the material they used seemed to concentrate the weight on a narrower strip. On the plus side, I really appreciated the ability to go from 2 point to single point quickly. Looking at the MS3, it looks like they have identified and corrected those deficiencies. I guess time will tell.

I've got a nice Magpul sling of some type that I never use. It sits there waiting for the day that I might want to go on patrol in the neighborhood... whenever that might be.

What I do use is the $6.95 M16-type, 2 point sling. You can adjust it for length. You can disconnect one end easily from the front swivel. Available in Black. Perfect for old guys that don't need fancy.

If you want your sling to carry your rifle around, I'm sure they're are more comfortable ones, but if you want your sling as a powerful shooting aide, then it is hard to do much better than the $9.00 canvas sling from the CMP.

Works great on my AR.

I have absolutely no use for a 1 point. I hate how it leaves the rifle dangling around. If I was just going to go out and buy a sling, I would definitely go with the Vickers/blue force. Personally, I use a side mount 2 point I made myself that is quick adjustable, and also has an arm loop incorporated in the front for a shooting sling that is really quick to get in and out of. It works extremely well in the cross country run n gun competitions I do.
