Another post looking for advice on setting up my 870. Couldn't figure out if this should go here or in shotgun forum so mods please move if I'm wrong.
First off I'd like to get a little shorter LOP. Not because I'm a small person. I'm like 6'6 or something. But for a defensive shotgun I like shorter because it's a little faster/more controllable for me. My last one had a cheapo ATI m4 style stock and I liked it one notch out from fully collapsed.
I also don't like how the rubber recoil pad can catch on clothing when shouldering. I was thinking that if I could replace the rubber pad that's on my wood stock with a thin plastic or metal butt plate, it would knock a little off of LOP and eleminate snagging. Anyone know of any options for this?
Otherwise, I'd like to stick with an inexpensive, traditional replacement. Not interested in anything M4 style or pistol grip. Maybe just a youth stock?
I'd also like to have the option of using a sling of some sort. I would nott want it attached most of the time but I want the option. I prefer 2 point but it seems a single point would be less likely to interfear with reloading/pumping. Perhaps one of the devider things that goes between stock and receiver and has a steel loop thing for sling attachment?
