I was daydreaming the other day and it went to the Sons of Guns episode where they were making a couple of shotguns for a pro shotgunner. One was converted to full auto and to my understanding, the NFA registry was closed so besides for LE/Military, full autos can't be made. I was just wondering how this works. I'm sure Red Jacket is an FFL so they can make firearms, does that include full auto ones as well?

so besides for LE/Military, full autos can't be made.

Nope

You or I or anyone else without the proper license can't buy them, but there are plenty of what are called "post 86 dealer's samples" that NFA dealers have and show to authorized buyers.

He's correct.
Who would those "authorized buyers" include?................LE/Military.

An 07FFL/SOT can manufacture a new machine gun, but can only transfer it to another dealer or manufacturer who submits a demo letter from a law enforcement agency or the military. This is why they are called "dealer samples".

Post '86 machine guns are not transferrable except to LE/Mil and dealers who seek to sell them to LE/Mil.

Post-samples are also fairly inexpensive and easily replaced compared to transferrable full-autos. There are very few transferrables on the main line at Knob Creek each year, most of the blasters are posties.

post dealer samples are also how a lot of ranges that are also FFL holders have full auto rentals. I used to go to a range in Atlanta that had about 15 post dealer sample full autos that they rented to people to shoot at the range. I went to the range with a friend one time and shot a full auto AR 15, MP 5 and Kriss... tons of fun :) (Just lots of money spent on ammo)
