that or a time machine.

actually, can you get components yet? time machine might be the only option right now.

I'm seriously the only person who has responded in an actual attempt to help him with this?

Not too surprising. There has been thread after thread after thread about ammo being unobtainable. That is just recently easing off and now we're seeing thread after thread about people happy to find a couple boxes.

Yes my response was snarky but it isn't like we're hiding a secret store where you can get ammo. It all got bought, is now on backorder, and what shows up at retail vanishes quickly.

The link I provided is still in stock, and isn't a rip-off.

If you don't have something constructive to add...

Still in stock, if you need it:

http://www.sgammo.com/product/winchester/100-round-box-45-auto-acp-winchester-230-grain-fmj-usa45avp

And dont' forget to check Academy Sports if you have one in the area for $16.99/50 Tulammo .45

Fifty bucks for a box of 100? That isn't cheap in MY book:what:

The only place I know where I can find "cheap" .45 ACP is at my press. Seriously.

I found a box of Federal .45acp for $33/100 the other day at Walmart. I wish I had bought more because it's proved to be accurate, reliable stuff (brass cased too). I hadn't seen .45acp that cheap in a while (except for Tula, which works, but isn't particularly accurate or clean). I'm planning to buy one of the Lee Classic Loaders soon (I've had a lot of success with mine in .45 Colt).

You can't even find it in the Local Gun Store for that price. $50 bucks for a box of 100 is cheap!

The LGS (Triggers in Florence KY) had Remington Special Match ammo 45 acp at $39 a box of 25.....that is the only .45 acp they had in stock.

Your only other choice is go to Walmart and ask when the truck comes in and then come back later, wait in line and you might get a box of 50....That is if you are first in line otherwise the others in front of you will get their choice of ammo first and then you'll be lucky to walk away with a box of .243 or 30.06....

Really. WWB 45ACP @ 50 CENTS a round. Oh my. Its only doubled in price and you don't think its a rip off.

To the OP. Cheap 45acp no longer exists at least that I can see but my reference point for comparison was when I could get it in the 25-30 cents a round price point. So 50 cents a round seems awful high to me. Prices have skyrocked and there is nothing to indicate at the moment that ammo prices will drop. My fear is that they will continue to rise making todays outrageous prices cheap in comparison to future prices. The only good thing is there is now ammo hitting the shelves. A couple months ago they were bare. Things are better today then in March except for prices. Understand that I started shooting very soon after another ammo crises and faced the very situation you face today. Its not fun but one adapts. Welcome aboard and whatever you do do not get in a boat with guns or ammo. For some reason boats sink when guns or ammo is aboard.

I just purchased Federal 100 count value pack last night from my local Wal-Mart for $33.49. Thats roughly pre-panic prices. I may also add that the ammo was nearly full on the shelf. I have never seen that much ammo in stock since November 2012. It's starting to become more available.

I'll have to make a run over to Walmart today. May I ask what Walmart in Ohio was it? I'm just south of Cincinnati, maybe I'll take a ride across the river.

Thanks

Doubled in price compared to when, exactly? I think you are exaggerating the facts here to be dramatic

And things are better today than in March, including prices.

Ammo prices are currently going DOWN. Except at major big box type retailers that never increased their prices to begin with (like Walmart), in which case having it on the shelf effectively represents a reduction in price since it's actually available when it wasn't before (to most of us)

The only place to get relatively cheap 45 ammo is at your reloading press......honestly and seriously. Why people don't do it and then complain about the circumstances is more than I know. I've had all my components for a looong time and thousands of each. The shortage has not slowed me down at all.

Some people haven't even been shooting for a looong time. Don't have the startup funds to get set up to reload properly. Don't have the space. Don't have the time. Still want to get some factory ammo anyway. Whatever.

Everybody isn't going to reload for all of their centerfire ammo needs. For those that do, great. For those that don't, they'll try to find what they can in stock.

I bought some .45 from my LGS today. They had Tulammo for $20, PMC for $23 and CCI for $24 (per 50)

You wont find brass cased ammo any cheaper than this at this time http://www.laxammo.com/ammunition/45-acp-ammo/factory-new-45-acp-230-gr.-jhp-500rds-in-can/40-528 I also buy their reloads for range use http://www.laxammo.com/ammunition/handgun-reloads/reloaded-45-acp-230gr.-500rds-w--ammo-can/22-21 . Here's a link to gunbot where you can break it down by price http://www.gunbot.net/ammo/45acp
Not a site I would use as my browser does not like it. Warnings.

Anyway I could get Blazer 9mm in Nov. for 17.98 cents a round and today its closer to 30 cents a round at Academy. Big difference. Look at what has happened to 22lr. I can't touch a brick of Wolf extra target match for less than $120 and I got 2 bricks of it in January for $68 each. Same thing has happened to all calibers. Tula is way over priced for what it is and frankly I would never use it.. I also don't run ammo in my guns from no name producers nor do I use remanufactured ammo. Guns are simply too expensive to run no name ammo in them.

You haven't priced componets lately have you.

Queen of thunder-Gunbot has been around for a while and is perfectly safe according to norton, and I have my security settings about as tight as you can get http://safeweb.norton.com/report/sh...4.0.40&layout=Retail&lang=0901&source=toolbar in fact I used the site just a week ago to get a brick of Rem Thunderbolt for 28.00. As for the reloads your statement was pretty harsh since you apparently have never used LAX ammo. There's lots of good reloads out there like ultramax,Freedom Munitions,Atlanta Arms,Georgia Arms,LAX etc. Besides isn't the purpose of the forum to share info and experiences with guns and ammo and so far my experience with the ammo has been nothing but positive.

Actually found some .45ACP at one of the nearby Walmarts. Also found it at a local gunshop but was priced a bit higher there.
