Is it just me or have we been in the drought so long that I can't even remember what ammo prices used to be like :uhoh: Of course I'm exaggerating but I seriously have to go look at my stash and check the stickers just to make sure someone isn't making a sucker out of me!!

Vent your frustrations here, I've got tissues and tubs of ice cream :D

I gave up buying ammo at my LGS. They are still priced like it's Febuary.

But I've been steadily buying from Midway USA at last years prices without any issues.

I'll be going to a large gun show in 3 weeks (haven't been to one since April), so I'll be curious to see how ammo is priced now.

I remember that in 2010 I could by brass cased .223 ammo for 15 cents a round. That would be nice to see again.

Prices are actually coming down... At least on some stuff.

7.62x39mm HP is only $249.99 with free shipping from centerfiresystems.com

At gun show couple weeks ago, saw a vendor with 100K of 7.62x39mm priced $ $248+tax per 1k.

Also, walmarts in the area are having 22lr pop up and have 1K round cases of Brass case Federal .223 in stock for $447.00+tax (a little pricey @ 47.8 cents per round). Also, Tula .223 is $5.17+tax per 20 (27.6 cents per round), and Brass Tula is $15.97+tax per 50 (34 cents/round).

Man, I wish I were shooting .223 back then! By the time I built my first AR15, a great deal on brass ammo was .30 or .35 per round.

Yeah, the Walmart near me finally started carrying some 223 again, but its like $13 for 20. On the plus side, they finally got some federal 40 cal in at their normal price ($15 for 50). Now if only the 100 round boxes would show up:D

re: Ammo Prices!!!

Today, 092613, I was looking at WWB USA9MM1 147-grain FMJ-TC. Some places on the web had it at over THIRTY BUCKS A BOX!!

Others had it at the same, or very near to same price, as I remember it.

I claim more like selective memory, Chinese brass cased .223 was about this early 90's, the steel cased was like $79/1000 back then -- I've still got a few cases stashed away (of the brass).

In 2010 $250/100 was a very good price for re-loadable brass cased .223 ammo.

I haven't bought any centerfire ammo since...has to be 2006, 2007?
Thank you, Mr. Dillon. :)

It really depends what level of ammo you're buying, the cheap stuff has been creeping up in price for several years now but the target and high-end ammo is still pretty constant.Once you get your head around a buck a cartridge as a starting point it's not all that bad, the downside is you don't get to brag about a high ammo count unless you're really wealthy :)

No ammo, other than 270, 243, hunting 308 and 12 ga. No powder, no primers. Can find bullets. My Dillon is forgetting which way to turn.

Uh, No.
Are we talking about the MidwayUSA that lists ammo as out of stock and no backorder. Last November prices had Blazer 9mm @$8.99 a box of 50 and cheaper by the case. I can't even find Monarch at that price. So if you are getting ammo at those prices let me know because I'll break out the plastic and order 5 pallets of it just to get started.

My Wal-crap has NOTHING. I truly believe they are curbing any reorders. The shelves are always empty except for some wacky calibers. My local gun shop has ammo except for 9mm. He cannot keep that one in stock. He has 50rd PMC .40 for $18/50. Not too bad I guess.

Last November, my local Walmart was selling 9mm brass for $11-13/box. And .40 s&w was $16-18/box. And I'm now buying at those rates again, so I'm not complaining.

This past April, I watched people trample one another to pay $400/case for 9mm. A waist-high pallet disappeared in less than 120 seconds. Given that was only 5 months ago, I'm happy to pay $11-13/box right now.

A year ago I could buy Fiocchi "High Velocity" 22lr for $2.99/box of 50.
My Beretta Bobcat is VERY picky about ammo, & this is one cheap one that it liked.

Yesterday, Able Ammo was selling it for over $28!!!!
I emailed 'em & told 'em what they could do with that.
I noticed today, they lowered the price to $9.99 (but they're outta stock)

So they can put what ever price on there today, just to make it look better.

I told them I will NEVER buy anything from them! :fire:

I've been in a long discussion about this and other sellers on another forum.

I've been informed it's only Capitalism at it's best.

I would be very interested to see if the crazy ammo prices from some of the major online carriers (CTD comes to mind) has actually affected the bottom line or not for them.

I'm just waiting for powder to come back in stock. I load my own, but gunpowder of all types is scarce. I don't think I have bought anything factory laded except 22 lr in a really long time.

My local Wallyworld has had a 1000 round box of 62grn 5.56mm for the last four days. I have been watching to see how long it will last. But at .50 a round that's still to much for me.

I wonder how much ammo CTD sells with their outrageous prices? cant be much... very bad business for the long run

Ammo prices dropped significantly in the June/July timeframe, but (outside of WalMart) seem to have leveled off about 30% higher than they were pre-panic in all the calibers I pay attention to (.223/5.56, 9x19, 22LR, 45 ACP).

Supply on retailer shelves isn't nearly back to pre-panic normal, but is far more available as it has been for the last 8 months.

Some people just said No. I won't shoot anything if I have to pay these scalper prices. I'll keep enough around for self defense and so forth, but casual shooting... No.

Visited a semi-local gun shop on Wednesday and they still had some crazy pricing on ammo. No.

Walmart wanted like $450 for the 1000 round case of 5.56. No
