Well I haven't picked up a 22 in a while, but I changed that the other day.
I stopped off at a pawn shop while at lunch just to have a look. Sitting on the shelf was a little Mossberg rifle that I had looked at before. It was a neat little bolt action, but over priced for the condition . It was marked $249.99 and had been in the shop for over a year.
The guy at the shop knows that I like 22s. He came over to me and says " You need to buy something" with a smile. So I asked what should I buy. He took the little Mossberg off the shelf and handed it to me and said"Make me an offer."
I told him that I would be to far off from what he wanted for the rifle. He said to just make him an offer. I told him that I would give him $150 out the door and he said OK.
When he rang it up he said he made a mistake, handed me the receipt, and asked if it would be OK.

Now it does have a few issues, but nothing that can't be fixed.
It's missing the rear sight.

The ears on the front sight are a little bent.

And there's a little crack in the stock.

There are a few notches in the stock. Might have been used in combat aginst tree critters.;)

Mossberg 142

Those are excellent rifles, as is its twin in semiauto the 152. I have both versions, I believe in the 142K & 152K versions made in the 50's (?). I started to gather Mossberg 22's, and drifted away from the idea. Likely will sell off most, but maybe not the 152's/142's !

Put a lot of rounds thru a 152 as a kid- surprising how well they handled and how easy to hit with. Magazines were available, bit pricey...haven't checked lately.

Not fancy, but good value!

You will enjoy it!
