Love the stock.

I asked the M14 question because a couple of us on this forum (fragout, myself) have M14s with milspec forged receivers (LRB). These are not the same as Springfield M1As....although I do love shooting those too.

Yep, sorry for the thread hijack.

That is an ARMS mount...but I did have some problems getting the scope boresighted. This weapon system doesn't always take easily to optics...my gunsmith put a lot of time into it. Now that the kinks are worked out, it shoots like a dream.

Had a chance to handle an accurized M14 in the Army a couple times. Good stuff.

I'm old, but not that old I only see the DMRs, and usually the EBR (example below). Our Scouts had them when we were in the Stan. Those lucky dogs! I would have gladly traded.

The new production EBRs in the Sage chassis are pretty awesome. Both of the ones in my platoon (we're Scouts) shot sub-moa with the M118LR and decent enough with standard 7.62 linked.

Nothing beats a fancy wood stock for good looks though.

serial # 501xx I bought from someone at API in 1981. I was into HK-91s for early practical rifle so I mostly used my tricked out HK. The cherry M1a was sent to Smith Enterprise for an "blueprinting " to National match specs around 1990 and I only put maybe 1000 rounds thru it until now. Yes it is sighted in with the AN/PVS2 at 100 yards and with an IR supplement works very well IMHO . This gun puts the old lake city match ammo into 1.5 MOA for many years and with a good Sierra Palma Match load cuts it closer with the Sadlak mount and a 10x scope on it. The stock ain't pretty , I never saw any flamed ones in my life time, but I like the old open grain reddish walnut. My "defend the Castle" rifle FWIW:

I found in 68 that is what the bipod is for, during the night. It quickly detaches FWIW

I have #1's baby brother. My M1 carbine has an almost identical pattern.
