well.....obviously they are civilian M14s. they are Springfield M1A Standards. all the stocks are original GI stocks that i have collected over the years. the handguards are all bran new, custom made to look like they came from the same block of wood. Tony at LAW483 Enterprises is the guy that did the custom handguards for me. he really did an amazing job. in some areas it looks like he matched the upper and lower, stripe for stripe. ya'll should check out his website. he does all kinds of custom M14, M1 Garand stocks ect.
Love the stock.

I asked the M14 question because a couple of us on this forum (fragout, myself) have M14s with milspec forged receivers (LRB). These are not the same as Springfield M1As....although I do love shooting those too.

http://www.lrbarms.com/ Great place to pick up mags for your M1A as well...they are about half the price of the springfield ones.

Looking good...thanks for sharing! Sometimes I wish I had a nice hardwood stock instead of my fiberglass one:)

Gorgeous! Why can’t I find wood like that?! I only see it in pictures or on some else’s rifle. This is the best piece of M1 GI beech wood I ever saw, and of course, it was someone’s rifle.

Drool spots were wiped off before pictures were taken.

Slamfire:

man.....your M1 Garand stock would be a perfect candidate for what i did with my stocks. that is a damn fine walnut tiger stripe M1 stock you have. it would look even sexier if it was tiger striped from head to toe. you should consider having LAW483 Enterprises custom match the rest of your stock.

I asked the M14 question because a couple of us on this forum (fragout, myself) have actual M14s with milspec forged receivers (LRB).

well i don't really want to make this thread about what the definition of an "actual M14" is........but my understanding is that it is not an "actual" M14 unless it was a government issued select fire rifle and was made by either Winchester, Springfield, H&R or TRW. LRB makes solid mil spec rifles, but i don't see how it would be anymore of an "actual" M14 than a semi auto SAI with GI parts and a cast receiver. i commend you on the LRB. i have held one their receivers and they are a dream. you need to get a Windtalker suppressor for that vortex. nice rifle......thanks for sharing. is that an ARMS mount? looks like your rifle means business.

Yep, sorry for the thread hijack.

That is an ARMS mount...but I did have some problems getting the scope boresighted. This weapon system doesn't always take easily to optics...my gunsmith put a lot of time into it. Now that the kinks are worked out, it shoots like a dream.

Had a chance to handle an accurized M14 in the Army a couple times. Good stuff.

tell more. DMR in a sage stock? or are you an old vet that handled the M21?

I'm old, but not that old:) I only see the DMRs, and usually the EBR (example below). Our Scouts had them when we were in the Stan. Those lucky dogs! I would have gladly traded.

The new production EBRs in the Sage chassis are pretty awesome. Both of the ones in my platoon (we're Scouts) shot sub-moa with the M118LR and decent enough with standard 7.62 linked.

Nothing beats a fancy wood stock for good looks though.

serial # 501xx I bought from someone at API in 1981. I was into HK-91s for early practical rifle so I mostly used my tricked out HK. The cherry M1a was sent to Smith Enterprise for an "blueprinting " to National match specs around 1990 and I only put maybe 1000 rounds thru it until now. Yes it is sighted in with the AN/PVS2 at 100 yards and with an IR supplement works very well IMHO ;). This gun puts the old lake city match ammo into 1.5 MOA for many years and with a good Sierra Palma Match load cuts it closer with the Sadlak mount and a 10x scope on it. The stock ain't pretty , I never saw any flamed ones in my life time, but I like the old open grain reddish walnut. My "defend the Castle" rifle FWIW:
