527, I've seen a few. Also, the Model 11 Remington was frequently equipped with a long barrel and a to the muzzle extension for waterfowling back in the day.

One of the reasons the Feds have that three shot capacity limit was those extensions. Another was Winchester 97s and 12s. Market gunners LOVED stuff like that.

.
Thanks a LOT, Wiley... sheesh.

I'd been schooled on the inner beauty of that style of Browning... and have known I'd have one at some point... but your post, sir, has moved a Medium Twelve onto the short list. lol.

While you could cut about anything down into a Whippet, the gun I learned to associate with the term was a Remington Model 17, ancestor of the Ithaca 37.

I should point out that Savage was also licensed to make the Browning A5. It was called the Model 720. Same gun, I have one.

I prefer a longer LOP on a gun of that nature, but then again I'm not planning to carry it around under an overcoat or anything like that. Here's my Auto 5. It's very well balanced and points quickly.
