hhhmmmm.....

well, Bill said it would take a couple days turnaround. I sent it 3 weeks ago, then nothing, phone mail box is full, no response to emails.

worried I sent off a brand new $700 pistol and no way to make contact now.

Hm. I don't know about socalbeachbum's experience, but years ago I had him do two HK triggers and an SKS. All were top notch.

I got a hold of Bill by phone today and he's just backed up all is cool.

fyi, when Google and Yahoo changed security protocols a few weeks ago, it has affected millions as to email delivery

He did a couple of AR triggers for me. Had them back in a few days and they were excellent.

Bill did the trigger job on my M&P15. I got zero complaints and enjoy it. Turn around time was quite quick too....this was a few years ago, before the current administration took office. I have a new 6.5 Grendel and the mil-spec trigger on it isn't doing it justice. I think Bill is going to get another order. :)

I sent him the trigger pack for my PTR91 and Bill did an outstanding job. Quick turnaround and excellent trigger pull.

I've had him touch 3 triggers. The first two lets just say malfunctioned and had to be returned or otherwise destroyed. Third time I got a properly functioning ar trigger that feels great and breaks clean. At the advertised weight. IMO a smith should not modify a stock trigger in an ar without the lower.

A google search will yield mixed results. When it's good, it's good for the price but yes there is risk.

His work on my PTR was nice but what he did with my Mossy 930 was even better. As for mixed reviews, I've read many people's opinions of Bill's work and, until this thread, had never read of anyone who was dissatisfied...

The complaints I've heard are that he takes some material off beyond surface hardening and basically ruins the parts (after they get shot a few times and wear). On designs where that isn't an issue most are happy but you need to know how your parts are hardened. Most swear by him and a few at him.

Bill Springfield - Beretta 92A1 Trigger Job - Action Tune

I am here to report I received back my Beretta 92A1 from getting a trigger job by Bill Springfield, and now have a very smooth, crisp single action pull measured at 4 lbs 9 ozs., and very repeatable and consistent.

I am pleased because I did not want a 3 lb trigger, and the smoothness was as important to me as the numbers. Bill did say he is quite backed up presently, but still it was only a 3 week turnaround. :):):)

I don't think many complaints exist about his work or it's value.

The main issue has been AR triggers, what parts were supplied, and whether he got to work with them in the lower. Many AR triggers are surface case hardened using a softer base material. It's all about low costs to manufacture, and when left alone it meets milspec.

Stone, grind, or otherwise remove the very thin case hardening, and the soft base material is exposed, which is not resistant to wear.

Again, I don't hear those with AR triggers complaining about Bill's work - but their choice of what parts to send seems to be the issue they refuse to admit causes the problem. They blame Bill when it's their junk he's working on, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he starts refusing to work on AR triggers at all. But - it's a large and growing market, hard to ignore what is basically an easy job.

Therefore, the buyer of his services must recognize their culpability in sending parts that are well known to be substandard for that kind of work.

Me, I bought a lower with an adjustable set screw for the takeup and it's as good as my other civilian rifles. Once the sear faces break in, there's almost no grit or drag anyway. And, it's a tactical rifle - 22 years USAR I always shot Expert with GI triggers. They don't contribute much to inaccuracy if you have the skills.

Bill did a great job on my HK P7.

The trigger on my gun had a heavier take up, and more creep at the end, than a friend's P7.

Bill did his thing and my trigger is now slightly better than my friend's in all regards.

I don't have a scale for actual numbers, but there was a noticible improvement do to the work Bill did.

I don't recall what the actual turn around time was, but he got it back to me in the estimated window.

Awesome trigger work

Bill,

Took a CETME and made a very nice trigger out of what was the most horrendous trigger in history.

He does good work....
