Going to sell my S&W E-Series Scandium 1911 and am thinking about replacing with

Both are nice. The PPQ is known for its trigger. If you are looking at the PPQ also look at the new HK VP9. Also, I wouldn't sell a 1911 that's reliable and in good working order.

I would never replace my 1911, but out of the two. I would go with the XDM

Walther PPQ....

I agree that the S&W E series 1911a1 .45acp is good. If you must sell it, Id choose the Walther PPQ. The gun has been in the US market for a few years with many + reviews. I like the new long-slide version but I'm in no big rush to buy it.
The stainless steel format would be my pick. That or the carbon steel with Metalife or NP3+ on the upper.

If you're used to shooting a 1911 with thumbs forward, make sure to really check your grip on the PPQ. I liked my PPQ but I couldn't get my thumbs off the long slide release lever. I couldn't get reliable slide lock without working really hard to change my grip... I didn't want to change my grip style, so sold the PPQ off.

I would keep that E series if it were mine

XDm or the new VP9 if I had to choose. Walther a just don't do it for me, though they seem to make quality guns.

I would never part with one of my 1911's, especially one as nice as yours (assuming it functions perfectly).
Personally, I would find another way to fund your new purchase.

A Walther PPQ or XDM compact. Can't decide between the two and would appreciate thoughts on the PPQ vs the XDM Compact.
I'd like to hear more about why you are selling it. I'm considering adding a 1911 and have turned in to a bit of an S&W M&P PC fanboy so I was less looking at the E Series but the PC (non-Scandium I believe). But there are a lot of things in common between the two and even the price is not that far apart.
So why are you changing?
Thx,
B
