Glock magazines, different models

One thing I will say Glock does well is common designs across magazines. You can use G17 mags in G19, G21 mags in the G30 etc. As long as they are the same caliber and you are going from large to small eg not trying to put a G26 magazine in a G17.

You can buy or use after market Glock magazines in different pistols.
I didn't watch the clip but he's either wrong or you are misinterpreted about what he said.
I looked into buying a LE trade in Glock 23 .40S&W gen 04. It came with only one 13rd Glock pistol magazine so I looked into buying 02 15rd factory Glock 22 mags to carry on security details. The Glock 15rd mags would function in the Glock 23.
Now, you may be able to run a 33rd Glock 9x19mm magazine in a Glock 26 sub compact but I could see that having jams or problems.

Glocks, by design are not complex or hard to change/use.

He doesn't know what he's talking about. If Glocks required flush fit magazines then Glock would have never made the 33 round magazine for the G18 (which is just a select fire G17).

I never had any problems. That includes using a 33 round mag in a G-19.

Bah - rubbish

don't slam them in hard (they can impact things in the frame like the ejector, or underside of the slide damaging feedlips) and make sure they work before staking anything important on the combination

I agree with the last remarks.
Some pistol owners & cadre seem to think that "combat" handguns need to be beaten, slap, pounded, etc.
I do think you need to insert the mags in firmly but you don't need to abuse or break the firearm.
In the early 2000s, I took a armed security class with a nitwit instructor who encouraged students to slam/slap/rack/etc. He was a US Army SF veteran & did a few PMC details in SW Asia.
A few students & the school manager finally had enough of his nonsense and cut him loose.

I own G26, G19 and G17. I normally carry the 10, 15, or 17 round magazines made for each gun in them when in use. I ONLY carry G17 mags for spares. They fit and function 100% in all of them and there is no possibility of confusion about having a magazine too short to function in the gun.

I have a couple of the 33 round magazines too. So far I only use them at the range. I load up 33 rounds of FMJ in each and use them in all guns with perfect reliability. If I ever felt the need for them in a SD situation I have no doubts they will work.

Youtube is both the best and worst source for advice, especially when it comes to firearms. When the rotary magazine on a 10/22 was taken apart for cleaning by someone not sure how to put it back together, Youtube was where I went. Needed to field strip a handgun that has been out of production 40 years, someone had a video.

But you also see misinformation such as what happened to the OP. Win some, lose some.

I have several G17's, 1 G34, 1 G19 and 1 G26. I shoot the 19 and 26 in GSSF indoor and outdoor. I use the G17 mags in each. Key factor is the mag retention/release, it is the same on all Glock 9mm models. Therefore as long as the mag will fit the grip length, you are good to go.

Nobody told my G26 it wouldn't work with G19 magazines,,,

Nobody told my G34 it wouldn't function with extended G17 magazines. (That is a 25 rounder plugged in there.)

Nobody told my G19 it could not possibly be reliable with 17 round G17 mags shoved in the well even though the two back up mags for this house gun are just that,,,

Or one of those modified 25 shooters for that matter.

About the only time a Glock mag will have problems is if they are the older generation non-ambi mag release mags in a gun that has the ambi mag release. Some of the older mags did not have the cuts on both sides.
But as for length, as has been demonstrated above, a 17 mag will fit all other 9mm frames and so forth.

Finger pressure on the magazine sticking out sometimes creates feeding issues for some. Not common but it sometimes happens. I was a LE firearms instructor and used to carry a G17 magazine as a reload to my G26. Never had any issues but as I said some do. If it runs 100% for you go ahead.

Magazines/mag holders....

A good point too is to check or clean your Glock(or any brand) pistol magazines.
Lint, crud, sand, grit, moisture, etc can get into the springs & parts. If you carry or wear the magazines, it can build up over time.
For Glock pistols, Id suggest the "GTUL" , www.Glockstore.com . It helps take down the Glock magazines for service/inspection. Lenny Magill offers a few demo videos too on Youtube.com .
DO NOT put huge amounts of CLP/gun care products on the parts of the magazines. The polymer parts can be cleaned quickly.

Check the mag holders or duty gear too. Crud, lint & sand can clog up there too.
