Glock Magazine Compatability/ Ruger Lc9 input

Hey all I narrowed my ccw to 2 guns. In the next few weeks im either getting a Ruger Lc9 @ $380 or a Glock 26 Gen 4 @$550. I really like the glock but own a Gen 3 Glock 19, will these mags be compatable with one another?? Oh!, also what your input on these two weapons. Thanks

I'd go for the G26. In my opinion the only thing the LC9 has going for it over the G26 is it is thinner. Well, I suppose it's lighter, but by just a couple ounces.

Other than that, the G26 has a better trigger, higher round capacity, and is slightly shorter in the grip (easier to conceal).

Magazines are compatible between Gen 3 & Gen 4.

Yeah I see that the lc9 only comes with one mag. Im watch youtube vids and i just noticed that. Everytime i go to the range i try to pick up an extra glock mag and i dont think they have lc9 mags

Both would serve you well so you can't go wrong here. The Glock WILL have a better trigger but is more expensive and a bit fatter/wider. The LC9 will be much easier to conceal IMO and has a manual safety (I personally do not use the safeties on my weapons that have them but many people do). I think magazine capacity is not a big issue here because if you need more than 7 rounds you need to get the heck out of there anyways because you shouldn't be in a serious firefight with a pocket pistol. To me, having a slimmer gun makes concealing easier than having a shorter grip does but I think that is due to body type. Ruger mags are more expensive but that shouldn't be a game changer since this isn't a "range gun." I own a Glock 22C and a Ruger LC9, both have functioned flawlessly since I got them. Either way you go, buy with confidence.

On Glock magazine compatibility. Assuming none of them are damaged, or otherwise out of spec, Gen3 and Gen4 magazines are interchangeable as long as you retain the left side position for the release button. If you move the Gen4's release to the right side, only the Gen4 magazines will work properly.

The ambidextrous cut on the Gen4 magazines is all that separates their basic design and function from Gen3 versions.

You have a G19, a double stack. A smaller double stack isn't going to be much easier to conceal. I'd get the LC9.

With a G26 you can also use any 15 round G19 mag as well as the 17 round G17 mags and the 33 round G18 mags. All work well and are easier to find and more reasonably priced than most any other guns magazines.

I'm not sure how big your pockets are. But I do not find the lc9 to be pocketable. I've carried it in my back pocket at times and in jacket pockets. But front pocket carry doesn't work for me. I carry mine everyday iwb 3-4.

I wouldn't go for the LC9 for pocket carry.

Some folks like it, I don't. Too big. IMO the .380s like the LCP are the best option for pocket carry.

I love my LC9 but for pocket carry I would say its a little to big. Now sayin that I do pocket carry to and from work but I am in my work unifom pants that have the biggest pockets I have ever seen. But in a IWB holster it disappears even on someone as skinny as me.

nice upload there Kas. I have not seen a comparison from that angle yet. Feels like im at the gun range from the looks of that view.. Tell ya what, im headed to the range on Mondat or tue to compare and test fire the lc9. Ill keep you guys updated. That double action trigger might not be a prob for me. I use to carry a double action Smith revolver all the time.

Depending on the pants, the LC9 is a good pocket gun for me. Having the right holster makes a bid difference. If I wear Levi's I have to go back to my stainless 380 but a lot of khaki type pants work well. The G26 is not pocket sized to me, though some folks apparently can pocket carry it. I have a G33 that is fine for ankle or OK for IWB (kind of thick) but definitely not pocket.

I don't find the LC9 trigger objectionable at all, if you're comfortable with DAO J-Frames you won't have any trouble with the trigger, and the sights are WAY better than my Model 60. The LC9 is thinner, too, which makes it work well in a pocket situation (no longer carry my M60).

The LC, in its favor for pocket carry, is thin and has a streamlined (no abrupt corners or sharp edges) profile, but it looks a little long on each end. Even in a deep pocket, the grip is likely to "prairie-dog" a little. (This is a bit of conjecture on my part.)
