Here's my question: Is the percentage of MAIG mayors who have been criminally indicted any higher than the percentage of all mayors in the US who have been criminally indicted?

Sure, it makes for a good story, but if MAIG mayors aren't indicted at any higher a rate than mayors in general, it's pretty meaningless.

Mayors... what an insular group. Remember Mayor for life Marion Barry?

Get a bunch of rabid idiots and they just re-elect based on the cult of personality.

...more an indictment of mayors than anti-gunners...just sayin' ;) (granted, they do seem to keep each other company). To be fair, the namesake of S&W's 410 revolver is under indictment, too, albeit under highly sketchy circumstances --convictions would be a more telling indicator (or sum total of jail time/fees :D)

I'm not aware of any organization that tracks the felony convictions of United States mayors, so I couldn't say. It looks like the number of MAIG members convicted of felonies tracks very closely with the overall percentage of U.S. citizens convicted of felonies.

Yes, but when you consider all the midwestern towns that elect children and pets, who are far less likely to commit felonies, then the MAIG mayors skew more felonious ;)

From the O.P.

Mayor Gordon Jenkins of Monticello, NY was indicted and arrested for felony bribery charges and witness intimidation charges. This goes with the mayor's previous 4 DUI arrests (but only 3 convictions).

That's a lot of drunk mayors, then.

The irony of it all...

Frankly, I think the children and pets approach may be a safer approach to governance these days and has a lot to recommend it ;)
