Just got my Shield today. $369.00 out the door new in the box. I'm going to take it on the trial run. It will be my ccw going forward. Any fellow gunners have one? Like / Dislike?
I have only read good reports on this weapon. I have a SD9 VE in 9mm. I really like that weapon. Gave $299.00 for it. I believe S&W puts out some very good autos at an excellent price.

Your conclusion is correct in my opinion. Just about any of the new "Poly" framed pistols are a good selection in my opinion. They are light weight and relatively easy to maintain. I personally am issued a Glock .40 caliber side arm and very pleased with it. My son in law was issued a S&W M&P full size .40 that is also a very good gun as well and having shot both there really is not much of a difference.

If a single stack weapon is favored for concealment, I can recommend Kahr Arms as I and many fellow Law Enforcement friends have had very satisfactory results with them as well.

M&P Shields....

Is the new M&P Shield a "no thumb safety" version or the traditional version with the manual safety?
I plan to buy a new M&P Shield 9x19mm without the safety. I'm left handed & prefer the non safety format for CCW/2nd gun use.
$369.00 is a great price for a NIB Shield. M&Ps on sale in my area go for about $389.00 USD.
For the Shield, Id look into night sights, Trijicon HDs are a good bet. I like the green-orange style. www.Trijicon.com
Some M&P owners get the triggers worked on or add after market kits like Apex Tactical. This can help the Shield but it's not mandated.
The black surface coating or Melonite may wear off in spots too. I noticed it on my full size M&P 9mm pistol. Id suggest adding Metalife or maybe Cerakote(with a extra coat of Armor-Clear). To add Metalife to the Shield's upper is about $90.00 USD with S/H. This will help with holsters, rust prevention, wear, etc. I like the SOCOM blue & tactical grey Cerakote shades. The new hip Kryptek, www.Kryptek.com camo styles are cool too.

I almost purchased one, and I still might. If I were buying a single stack 9mm, it would be a shield for sure.

300 rounds down range. 200 fmg, 100 hp. All fired just fine. 7 / 10 yards kept em all in the 9 ring. Gun has an awesome trigger. My new best friend.

Great choice. I bought one a couple of weeks ago. I only had a chance to shoot it once so far. Probably about 50 rounds or so if I remember correctly. No malfunctions and I have to get used to the trigger. I added the Talon rubber grips and a pearce mag extension. It will make it in to my carry rotation once it is confirmed to be reliable. I am also in the process for working up a nice practice/target load so I can test them out next time I go to the range, which will hopefully be this coming week. I have since added the talon rubber grip to the pearce extension as well.

I'm going to either sell, trade or give my Shield away. It's just too small for me.

I carry one regularly, and have grown to really like it. It feeds anything and I have nothing to criticize about it. I have lots of choices in the safe, but the
Shield has become my regular carry gun unless I'm going into the woods (which I do often), where I carry something larger as concealment is not a priority.

I've had mine for two years now. Mine was one of the ones that was recalled for the trigger. I never sent it in and haven't had any problems with the trigger safety being stuck back.

It is my carry weopon, I been shooting the crap out of it. It will shoot just about anything. I think in two years of shooting it every week at the range, I've only had 3 jams. All three were with longer OALs with work ups.

It's very accurate and dependable.

I like mine a lot. It runs with any ammo I've tried. It's accurate. It's just the right size and weight for a true compact carry pistol. I put a set of Ameriglo hackathorn sights on it. If mine vanished today I'd go right to the store and buy another one with no hesitation.

Probably have 2000 maybe a little more rounds out of mine (bought last Nov) it's been a great pistol so far. Not a single issue even with my reloads...it's such a great little gun I'd like to buy a spare before S&W cuts corners and makes it cheaper somehow.

heck of a lot of pistol for the money....accurate, reliable, easy to shoot and carry.

9mm Shield

I had a Kimber Solo 9mm, and was kind of turned off by the factory statement that the spring was only good for 1500 rounds. Also gouging of the alloy frame by the slide (too soft!). Tried a 9mm Shield and knew that it was the little 9 for me. Traded off the Kimber .

I really like the sights, the trigger, accuracy and reliability of the Shield. Has shot everything that I have fed it without any problems (including HP's and lead FP's).

When I first took my (first) Shield 9 to the range, I took three different weight ammo, in FMJ, Truncated, and hollow point in each weight. 115, 124, 148.
I ran two mags of each of the 9 ammo selections through it at 40', and all ammo shot accurately and ran well. No failures of any kind.
I bought the next Shield 9 I came across, to serve as my glove box gun. And a shoulder holster, and a belt holster, and a pocket holster........keepers BOTH of them.

I'm a huge fan of the Shield 9.

My most carried firearm. I have owned one since they were first introduced.
