Why, yes...yes I do. I also cite what it is I'm commenting on (which tends to keep things in context) and research something before I post a reply.

;)

If you, or anybody else, think I'm wrong about something, then point it out so we can discuss it.

Your post was spot on

Last weekend, while camping near Piedmont, MO, I found 2 kinds Remington and CCI SV.

I bought the limit of 3 boxes (CCI) and my wife bought 3 as well.

$7.47 each.

I had my lucky break at WM today. Was there this morning to get groceries and noticed no stock of .22's (lot's of .223 though).

Just before leaving the office I checked brassbadger (which I only installed yesterday) and it said limited quantity of Winchester m-22 1000 round boxes at the same WM as above.
I headed down there and nothing. I asked the assistant to please check in the back.

After some time he came wheeling out a cart with some brown boxes. Among them was a single carton containing 2000 of the M22s and that was it. Luckily they became mine.
Total out the door $109.88. So that's it for me.

RETIREDUSNCHIEF, do you ever comment on a thread without 1. Pretending to be a know it all, or 2. Berating, challenging, or arguing with someone?

Well the Chief does, in fact, know everything. So he is not pretending.

Second, the Chief does not berate others, he inspires them with constructive (but forceful) criticism. He challenges ignorance and argues the truth with factual backup.

This is what makes the CPO effective.

Well, that and coffee.

Has anyone tried the Norma TAC-22 ammunition? I have seen the stuff advertised and believe it was released to compete with a few good makes of 22LR. Made in Germany by RWS I think and marketed in the US through Norma USA. Not as inexpensive as many of the low end 22LR loadings but not as expensive as some of the better target loadings like the Eley flavors. I know Cabela's had it for quite some time at $5.99 a box of 50 and $59.99 a brick of 10 boxes of 50. Just wondering if anyone is shooting the stuff and their comments as to price verse quality?

Thanks
Ron
Yep. It shoots the same as Wolf MT and SK Standard+. It's just as slimy too.

i think this shortage is all part of ex. N.Y. gov. Bloomburg and his $50 mil. plan to hurt the N.R.A.

I still haven't seen a round of 22 in either of the two WMs I visit on occasion. They are loaded with 9mm and just about everything but 22 and 380.
I also am not making a special trip to WM for ammo.

You guys must not EVER shoot bolts or revolvers. I never have an issue with the El Cheapo Remington GB or Thunder in those guns.
I shoot both, including a Colt Officer's Model Target, a Kimber M82, a Remington 541X and a Springfield M1922 MK II, and have had failures to fire with Remington in all of them.

I've reached the point where I will no longer buy Remington ammo in any caliber.

Well, once again I did my part to keep the market demand up for .22LR. Can't have the demand going down too quickly or the manufacturers won't be tempted to increase their production capacity, you know!

The Dick's in Chesapeake, VA had about 60 boxes or so of American Eagle High Velocity (40 round boxes) for $2.49. This about lunch time today. Bought my limit of three, then went across the parking lot to Walmart, which had about two dozen 100 round boxes of CCI Standard Velocity for $7.47. Bought my 3 box limit from a lady who doesn't normally work at the counter (the regular guy was busy elsewhere in the store).

Did my other Walmart shopping, dropped everything off in my car, then turned around and walked back to the Sporting Goods counter, hoping to catch the regular clerk...and yet another different clerk was there. Bought another 3 boxes of CCI. Went back to the car while considering going back in for a third round because that clerk wasn't the regular clerk either...but I was too tired. I'm working 12 hour back shifts and I needed to get at least a FEW hours of sleep before now.

:)

Got up, drove by to check Walmart and Dick's on the way in...no luck at Walmart, but Dick's had three remaining boxes of American Eagle on the counter, so I picked them up.

Total score:

600 rounds of CCI Standard Velocity 40 grain
240 rounds of Federal American Eagle High Velocity 38 grain

Take heart, folks...it's out there and getting better. I sporatically check for .22LR whenever I'm out and about. I don't make any special trips for it and I'm not having problems finding it, though it's not available every time I walk by a counter somewhere.

And in the hook-a-brother-up spirit of good camaraderie amongst shooters everywhere, I'm more than happy to dip into my stash at cost if I'm fairly local to someone having problems getting .22LR . I bounce between the Hampton Roads area in VA to the Greenville, SC area.

Keep the faith!

:)

Thank you, Chief.
May Great Spirit go with you. Always enjoy hunting with you, even for lowly .22.:)

By way, which tribe you belong 'em ?
It OK, even if Choctaw.
Me Chickasaw and Cherokee.
That is 'em 'nother story.:D

Stopped by our local Farm & Fleet today to pick up a leaf blower and checked out the ammo section on a whim. They had 22lr shotshells much to my surprise. Didn't buy any because I have no need, but its the first time they've had 22 in over 2 years. They didn't even have a price tag for it, they'd hand written one for the time being.

Why wait? No time like the present to buy another gun, I say!

No Indian blood in me...the "Chief" refers to my rank in the Navy...Chief Petty Officer.

I was born and raised in Lafayette, Indiana, though, where there is quite a bit of Indian history. (I suppose that technically could be said about most places in the U.S., really.) I've still got relatives who live in Battleground, where the Battle of Tippecanoe occured. I took my wife and kids to Prophets Rock, where Tecumseh's twin brother sang the Shawnee warriors into battle.

Amazing Indian history in my home state. I wish I had paid more attention to such history when I was growing up, but that's the beauty of the internet now...I can read up on just about anything at the tap of the keyboard!

Did anybody get the CCI Mini Mags from Midway today? They were 7 cents each plus shipping, limit 900 rounds. I passed.

The Mini Mags have been popping up a lot more frequently the last couple months, at least from what I see.
Ya, the last couple weeks especially that I've noticed. 22lr still isn't plentiful, but it seems to be sticking around a bit longer. I know a lot of people love Mini Mags, and if I hadn't already stocked up (relatively) I probably would buy some.

Yah, just a yoke (Swedish for joke).

I actually have from 1/8 to 1/16 Native American Indian (at least), maybe more, chromosomes, but unknown what tribe.

I do know the Chief is from your service in the US Navy, for which I've thanked you for, previously, and again.

Just trying to keep it light and supportive, and "most of us" do appreciate your sharing all the info with us, in this case, re: .22 ammo.:)

I was at academy and they have CCI .22 LR .40 gr Quiet. This is my first time to see this one rated at 710 ft sec. I ve always like Remington .22 lr subsonic for years. Wonder how these go at such a lower speed.

Here s a video of someone testing it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQH403D-6Ek

Wow! I've heard pellet guns which were louder!

I'll have to get some and try them out at squirrel ranges.

I fired one round in my backyard to test how loud, and sure is quiet . But it does have a funky smell like ammonia . I compared with a Remington .22 subsonic and theres a big difference. I still like the pop of the Remington subsonic though.
