I was just kidding but thanks for the offer. I don't need any as I've got a stash that I bought about 10 years ago and I rarely shoot my MkII anymore.

Tin foil hatted rant from a person with 1 post.

If this were true, we'd see shortages of other calibers. 9mm, 5.56, .40, .45, and just about everything else is stacked floor to ceiling just about everywhere that makes an effort to stock a lot of ammo.

When I bought my .22 a "horded" 6000 rounds of ammo that I liked. It's all the same stuff. I did it so that I could standardize.

Be careful with those Rem. "Goldens"...
...bought a ton of it during the shortage, when it was the only thing showing up at Walmart...still is about the only thing showing up, there...save the occasional Federal O r CCI lead bullet rounds...
...those Remington Goldens, sport, loose bullets, many not seated correctly, and the like.
    Really only usable for Revolvers.

I would not pay 4 cents each for Golden Bullets. Absolute garbage. YMMV.

And you get a lot of misfires with them.

It'll be a long time before I buy any Remington ammo.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I bought a few boxes of the golden bullets and have ben rather well pleased with them. Thunderturds however.... well. I leave those on the shelf. My bane is the Winchester SuperX. meh. for me those are equivalent to throwing lawn darts overhand at marbles, from a bridge, with my weak hand, backwards.

Rate Current .22 Ammo by Brand and Type

I thought it would be interesting for THR members to list their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices (and maybe others), for their pick of .22 ammo.

Any other comments would be appreciated.:)

If I had my choice, I'd have nothing but CCI Standard Velocity. My Mark II loves it and that is what my scope is zeroed for. But, I have 475 rounds of Federal Automatch, 400 CCI SV, and 300 Aguila Interceptor. The Aguila I happened to find for sale locally, the Federal I traded my father in law some CCI Stinger I found and happen to hate shooting but he loves the stuff.

I really liked CCI Blazers when you could get a 500 round brick for under $20. I haven't even seen any in the last 2 years at any price. I did manage to score 3 100 round packs of CCI standard velocity at Walmart a couple of weeks ago for $7.49 each. I hate the Remington Golden Bullets. Lots of misfires and low powder loads. My 10/22 and MK II hates them. My Single Six is my only gun they'll work with.

All my revolvers (SA & DA) and my Marlin Model 60 have been able to handle the cheap Remington bulk ammo.
    Winchester is a little better.
    I prefer CCI.

Seriously annoying, Academy continually advertise ammo at under 5c a round but they wont ship to CA. There are a couple pf restrictions to parts of CA but I'm not in one of them.
So all you folks who don't like the goldens, send them my way!
Another week and I get my rifle.

I'm trying to remember if I started a poll or just a thread to see what folks' results / preferences were AFA 22LR - apparently it was before 2008, as I can't find the thread using the search function - oldest threads started by me only go back to 2008.

FWIW, feedback on that particular poll seemed to mirror my results with good / bad 22LR brands / models.

    For myself, bulk choices are:
    1. 'Bout any Federal (550 / 525 Value packs, AutoMatch).
    2. Winchester M*22.
Last place (I hate to place it 3rd, because it would be a very distant 3rd) is Remington (Golden Bullets, Thunderbolts).

Of course, CCI is probably #1 AFA quality / lack of duds, but I put them in a different category due to their price.

    Yes, California seriously sucks

Depends on the intended use. The three I personally prefer, in the three price ranges I usually buy, are:

-CCI Standard Velocity (also Mini Mag)
    -Wolf M/T or SK Standard+
-Federal 550 round bulk packs or CCI Blazer bricks

    Yep.

The only ammo I've been able to acquire was some CCI SV from the WalMart weekend a few weekends ago. So far it's been G2G with no issues, but I've only shot three rounds. You know, it's expensive stuff! Haha.

You guys must not EVER shoot bolts or revolvers. I never have an issue with the El Cheapo Remington GB or Thunder in those guns. They aren't perfect in semis for sure but they are certainly fine for range fodder. I have over 5k Rem in assorted varieties and shoot them regularly.
I had quite a few issues with some Win-22 a few weeks ago out of two guns. Maybe the guns were dirty so they have been cleaned thoroughly and I will give it another go soon.
I pretty much like all of the CCI offerings I have ever used. Blazer, Stinger, Mini Mags have all worked for me in certain applications.
Federal generally makes good 22 ammo though some of it can get a bit pricey. I have a couple of pistols that really like one of the Federal offerings so I keep a few boxes on hand. Haven't been able to shoot those guns much lately because I can't replenish THAT ammo.

Is this considered bad? Granted he said he bought it for his brother's kids, but 14,500 rounds in 2 days, store hopping, and being sold cases of it, kinda seems wrong. Oh well, it's his $800+tax to burn. Goes to show the stuff IS available.

1st choice: Wolf M/T - my CZs love that stuff
    2nd choice: SK Rifle Match
    3rd choice: CCI SV

I've heard very good things about Norma Tac-22 but I haven't ordered any to try yet.

Has anyone tried the Norma TAC-22 ammunition? I have seen the stuff advertised and believe it was released to compete with a few good makes of 22LR. Made in Germany by RWS I think and marketed in the US through Norma USA. Not as inexpensive as many of the low end 22LR loadings but not as expensive as some of the better target loadings like the Eley flavors. I know Cabela's had it for quite some time at $5.99 a box of 50 and $59.99 a brick of 10 boxes of 50. Just wondering if anyone is shooting the stuff and their comments as to price verse quality?

    Thanks
    Ron
