I have some 147 gr Zeroes on the way from Powder Valley for 9mm. Where do you guys (or gals) rank them in quality? Not the 147 specifically but the brand as a whole..

Any problems?

I figure Powder Valley probably wouldn't carry them if they weren't up to snuff. Thanks all!

I have heard that they are quality bullets, but I have no personal experience with them.

I used to buy them a lot. I loved their FMJ(s).

They had more consistent weights than Winchester.

I use a lot of Montana Gold now. They're very consistent in weight, like Zeros, but I prefer Zeros for the traditional gilding metal jackets.

I had primarily used .45 ACP 230 Gr FMJ(s) and 9x19 124 Gr FMJ(s). Never tried their JHP(s).

FWIW, I loved 'em.

Zero has been in business since the 1970's, and makes a good quality bullet. They also make loaded ammunition.

Hope this helps.

Fred

You guys are quick, thanks very much. They are FMJs, I didnt list that because I thought that was all they made. I have quite a few flavors of Xtreme plated, but I'm really enjoying shooting FMJ right now. Seem more accurate to me though it might be in my head..

I have shot a metric butt load of the Zero .357 JHP bullets over the years. Got big boxes of them from Rose Distributors usually. They were always great performers as well as accurate as all get out. Good choice for the cost IMHO.

I found their 115gr FMJ's to be top notch. I haven't tried other weights.

Their 124grn HP for 9mm is absolutely THE trick. The only issue is finding them in stock when you need them. Buy with confidence and enjoy !!

Great, sounds like I made a good choice (also threw in some 124s today). They were about 10 cents a pop and that seems about as cheap as I can find an FMJ, is that what you guys are seeing too?

I have shot Zeros in 9MM, .38 Super, .38 Spl, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. They have been very good to excellent in all of them.

Zero

I'm with rfwobbly, the 124s do it for me but I always bought mine direct from Zero's distributor Rose Dist. They have been out most times in the past 3 years when I needed resupply so I have gone to Delta Precision (another great bullet)for my last 5000. No doubt though Zero's are fine bullets.

I have 1000 rds that I bought for $8 a box a year or so ago. I shoot their fmj as target rounds and I shoot their jhp as defense ammo. That's definitely my favorite 9mm ammo and just about the only metallic ammo I buy since I reload everything else. And im starting loading 32swl. I have shot zero in 38spl, 9mm, 40sw and 45acp and have always been happy with it. I have not yet seen a malfunction that was the fault of the ammo. I estimate 1200-1500 zero rounds down the pipe. I just wish more places around here stocked it.

For reloading I suspect my results using the same bullets they do will only get better.

The Zero 125 gr JHP (conventional rounded ogive) is one the most consistent weight and length bullets I've ever used. It's been my go-bullet for many years. These are fully jacketted bullets. They do not make a 124gr JHP in 9x19 or 38 Super.

The only problem with Zero is that they don't manufacture ALL their bullets ALL year long. They have to shut down the manufacture of one group to start up up the manufacture of another. This results in long dry spells where "YOUR FAVORITE" may not be available for months at a time. The back orders build up and distributers run out as fast as they get them in.

The 125gr JHP I mentioned above is one in high demand for action shooter/competitors, so they haven't been available for quite some time. All summer I managed to buy 2000 from "ROZE" which depleted the stock.

The 124 RN and some 147s don't run out as fast.

I have shot thousands of 125 gr JHP and JSP Zeros in .357. Accuracy was always top notch.

That's right, it is 125 Gr, and they make them in .355 & .356. I stopped buying the .355 and use the .356 for both the 9MM & .38 Super.

Well I think I just ordered some 124s...lemme check to see what Ive done, that PV lady is going to choke me if I have to change something else.

OH I SEE< YALL ARE TALKING ABOUT JHP....Duh, ok..

Well heck, I wished I would've known about this Rose Dist..anyone have a link so i can file it on my Word sheet of suppliers?

Ya know, I was thinking about more volume today. Im buying like 500 bullets at a time and Im wondering how ordering 3thou -10thou would work out for me, the only fear being that I would go nuts loading and take it as a personal mission to get them all loaded in the first 3 days! They'd just be sitting there staring at me..challenging me..

ok I'll quit thinking out loud now, might get embarrassing.
