Ill explain it in better detail... so i have this room that was made out of one of my garage bays... the floor is a substance much like linoleum, but thicker and harder... its a pretty slick surface... also there is about a six inch step down about 2 feet from the door you walk into that room from the kitchen. I was stepping off of the step and i planted my right foot square onto a plastic toy. My momentum pushed my foot forward causing me to fall... on my revolver... and it hurt. Lol

Yep, Hot Wheels are about as bad as Legos. Sure, they're somewhat flat, but they roll...A solid heel step and you're on your back.

I used to carry a J-frame in my back jeans pocket when walking the dog or taking out the trash, but I slipped on some ice a few years ago and bruised my...self...no more pocket carry. Had a J-frame sized bruise on my right cheek for a 2 weeks.

jeez. I cringe just thinking about a couple of these scanarios. Knock on wood. I was a lego nut as a kid, and I either never stepped on one -

either that or the memory was so horrible I have permanently blocked it out of my mind.

I was getting out of my truck in my driveway a few years ago. I had some items in one hand and my .45 Kimber in the other. My trick knee buckled up and I went rolling across the drive way. The fall would have made Chevy Chase proud.
However, on my way to the pavement,I dropped my Kimber. I looked down that barrel as I waited for it to hit directly on the hammer. I never realized how big the bore is on a .45. Fortunately, Mr. Browning designed a very safe pistol.

Sounds like it would be a good idea to learn some judo.

In particular how to land.

For a few years I took judo along with TaeKwonDo (still do TKD) and the first thing you learn is how to fall. It has saved me once when I was hit by a telephone truck!

Yes a telephone repair van, on a foggy morning backed into me while I was walking by.

I saw the truck's backup lights come on and turned toward it just as it hit me square.

I fell strait back, and as falling I put out my right arm, tucked in my head, and hit the pavement with my spine off the ground. Only damage was a busted lip and a bit of a bruise where the truck's bumper hit my shin.

The guy got out of the van. I told him I was ok and no biggie. Went on my way.

So guys, try a little judo!

Okay. not to hijack the thread. But I ran into (quite literally) the automotive equivalent of stepping on a lego last night.

I pulled the dreaded walk around the truck and smack your shin on the ball hitch in the dark maneuver. Ouch ^%$@ only begins to cover it.

The bad thing is, you'd think I'd learn after doing it a few times..

My 28 year old niece is in the army, trains females in unarmed combat.
She's a small girl and I've got about 75lbs. on her. We get messing around
some times and she likes to kick.
Caught me with a hard kick to my right side hip.......yup, her
left foot met my Glock 36.
Glock was unimpressed......foot had broken tarsal bone.
She's a lot more careful where she kicks me now.

LOL been there.... Usually when im drinking on the tailgate... Still :)

Could you imagine banging your shin on a hitch, then stepping on a lego with the other foot? I think I'd rather accidentally shoot myself!

Falling on a gun basically attached to your hip could break a hip bone. That can be a life changing event. I hope you heal quickly. Been there with the hitch. I have had several co-workers with lifted pickup trucks. Sometimes they leave their hitches on. The hitches stick down and out about, what, 6 inches from the back of the bumper? Shin height of course. Just below the knee. The first hit is not so bad. When you hit the same spot every couple weeks or so, it adds to the fun. If you hit it really good, you can rip your pants to. Legos have not been a problem for many years. Belt buckles with catch spikes face up on the floor are the current challenge. A nice deep bruise on the heel or ball of the foot smarts for weeks.

This thread seems to show THR members have accidents that result in or have the possibility of causing a fall. I hope the few remaining people using SOB holsters are thinking long and hard about that.

I have fallen directly onto a holstered handgun twice. Both times it was a 1911, both times it hurt like crazy.

First time, I was carrying a 55Lb bag of dog food out of a store and slipped on ice. I landed on the gun, the dog food landed on me. Knocked the wind out of, I was on my knees in the parking lot gasping for breath for a few minutes. I composed myself and realized that I was surrounded by .45ACP cartridges. I had broken the floorplate on the mag and it spilled out, leaving only the round chambered.

Second time I slipped on the wax at a bowling alley. "Whose feet are those in front of me at eye level?" Mine. And it hurt very much badly.

I remember the Lego mines around my room when I was a little guy. LOL. I have also cracked the tar out of my legs hitting the receiver hitch on my truck. The worst I did was fall on some black ice leaving a hotel room. I landed dedicated on my right hip and thankfully had my carry pistol in my coat pocket. That one left a bruise and a pretty good sore spot for a few months.

Sunday, I was trying to get my seven year old daughter to clean her room. For a few minutes, I had her convinced that legos and lincoln logs grow spikes in the dark.

I started down the hall to check on her a few minutes later, and she was turning her light off, and back on...

Before you young guys time I'm sure.

But You dads with kids and Lego's ain't walked in the dark barefoot till you stepped on a Metal JAX barefoot!!!

Lego's are child's play compared to JAX!!

I think they were invented based on the Roman Caltrop.

Imagine a one-legged man hopping through a mine field in the dark!!
And then hopping on another mine under his 'good' foot with all his weight on it!!!

You are very fortunate that Lego's & Lincoln Logs are all you have to step on!

I can assure you!

Unrelated to the topic, but i have taught both of my kids to play marbles, jacks and chess. Diverts them once in a while from video games.
