Putting together my first AR, and looking for a rail system for the Dissipator upper I bought from PSA. Just ordered yesterday, so I wont have it for a couple weeks, but what would you guys recommend for a rifle length drop in rail system? I've been looking at the MI Gen2 quad rail as well as the Key Mod version, and those look like good options. This will have minimal accessories, most likely just a vertical fore-grip and maybe a light. I don't want to spend much more than $150.

I have a Midwest Gen 2 Free Float FSP rail. Good quality, not top of the line, not garbage either. My pick for the $100-$200 range. I just like most of MI's stuff for the cost.

Also, I'd look at a Knight's M5 RAS. Factory seconds cost $150, drops right in, comes with rail covers, and they lock up super tight.

I've looked at the KAC rails and they look nice, cant seem to find the factory seconds, but have looked at them before. Another option I am looking at is the Magpul MOE handguard. Not exactly a rail, but light weight and can hold what I need it to, plus its cheap.

Start with the magpul for 40 dollars. Spend the difference on ammo, shoot it and see what you do and don't like.

I have the MOE on mine.

While all the rails were nice, most of them were dead weight since the only things mounted were a VFG, sling loop, and a light.

Not very. The old ones, anyway. The MOE SL locks up tightly, but they aren't out for the rifles yet. I've had both old MOE and new MOE SL, and I would never use the old MOE again, as nice as the SL is. That said, I got rid of both. I just don't like mounting things to polymer. Works fine, but I can feel it flex, and I simply prefer aluminum.

^This.

Get a magpul fore end and a couple rails. Put the rails where you want them, add accessories, and you're done! And you'll have a nice and clean setup too.

I did exactly this with my Palmetto Dissapator.
