I saw one a couple of days ago for $500. They sold out of course. I'd like to get close to that price on one if I can. Anyone know of a place selling one cheap?

I don't need the best AR. But I do want a reliable model and from what I've read the S&W is a good choice. I actually thought I would likely never get into AR's but times change and we should change with them.

Bud's has 'em for $550. Some went for $500 for Black Friday/Cyber Monday apparently.

That price at Buds is only for "Qualified Professionals only" which means, LEO's, military, security, etc.. The price for us mere mortals is about $100 higher there. Palmetto had them the cheapest I saw in the last few days. They had them for $499. Not any more though. Cheapest now is $560. I'd like to do better since I'm getting contributions from my kids who help me get what I want for Christmas.

Oh, didn't see that.

Yeah, $560 is best I've seen. I got mine from GrabAGun for that price a few months ago, so it's not much of a holiday deal.

Midwest gun exchange in south bend IN has them on sale for $449 or $499. Can't seem to find my flyer but believe they are $449.

Keep an eye on slickguns.com. they are regularly posted in the $500-600 price range. You can keyword search the model number and set up price alerts and back in stock notifications

Wow! Too bad my sister just moved away from the area. It would be a long drive for me and it doesn't appear they do online sales. We do still have family in Indiana but they're in Indianapolis. It would almost be worth a combined trip but with the price of gas I wouldn't save any money. I'd love to find a deal like that online though or anywhere I could drive to easily. I live close to Cincinnati but I go to Columbus pretty often plus the Ashland, Kentucky area. Maysville, Lexngton, Dayton and everything in between would maybe be worth the drive. I know there's a big store in Bardstown but that's pretty far too. And yes I know Buds is in Lexington. I end up in all these areas from time to time though. My son lives in Dayton. I know people in Lexington because I lived there and went to UK too.

Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping to find something soon and get everything squared away before the big day. Santa can even borrow it for security on the sled at least until he gets here. :)

I've been watching Gunbuyer and Slickguns. Both have had good deals recently and I expect they will have them again. I just ain't sure it will happen before my time is up. If I have to wait a while that would be ok too. Heck I may even sell some other stuff to add extras to the M&P.

Call them direct. I can not imagine a store of that size not doing online sales. Or at least sale over the phone.

That's unbelievable. KY Gun Co is selling them right now for $540 shipped retail. Sounds like you should reconsider wholesalers. But I guess that explains why they are still $700+ at LGSs

Checkout Tanners Sports Center and Surplus City Guns on Facebook. Both are in PA and have recently had M & P s for $556.00. Shipping is not included but is reasonable from folks I know that have used them.

Both palces are pretty quick to respond on FB or you can call to get their inventory status.

By the time you pay shipping and transfer, it might not be saving much if anything.

Also gotta figure if you do or don't have to pay sales tax.

Yeah I have to figure that into the cost redneck. Some places are pretty reasonable on shipping and I can get transfers done for $25. I might be able to beat that at a LGS but so far I haven't seen it yet. I have one retailer I might call today. They match Buds prices and they have been very good to me in the past. But they may not match the $550 price at Buds because it's only for LEO's etc.. It doesn't hurt to ask. They have been very good to me in the past. To be honest I didn't get the bee in my bonnet about getting one until last night so I haven't had much chance to check my LGS friends yet. The thing is the M&P is getting pretty hard to find locally because they are so popular. I looked at one LGS recently and they didn't have one. But I haven't tried hard yet.

Call them direct. I can not imagine a store of that size not doing online sales. Or at least sale over the phone.

From their web site:

"Please Note: Midwest Gun Exchange does not do Phone/Mail/Internet Orders and only supports our local, walk in traffic."

It's a 5 hour drive from where I live too. So I don't think I'll be doing that but I do appreciate the info on that place.

Do they match Bud's only or any online retailer?

GrabAGun has it for $560 (for the rest of us citizens) + $6 shipping + your $25 local FFL, so $591 OTD. If they match GAG, then you're at $560 + $39 (assuming 7% sales tax), so $599 OTD. If they won't match Bud's LEO price or GAG's price, then you're going to be better off buying online, even with shipping and tax.

Not to change your o.p. but have you looked at the new ruger. Two of my friends got one and really impressed with it. I am not big into the AR platform but from what I have seen the ruger seems well put together.

I read through the list of people eligible for the discount Speedo. Unfortunately I don't fit any of those categories.

And the LGS only matches Buds AFAIK because they are not really all that far from the actual Buds store in Lexington. It's a fairly quick trip down the interstate to Buds and they know they can lose a lot of customers to Buds if they don't match their price.

I suppose I can ask them but I know they match Buds prices. They have done that for me before.

If you really need to stay under 500 and aren't dead set on the S&W, you can buy an upper, complete lower, and BCG from PSA for right at $500 pre shipping. The upper is a daily deal for today though.

Paid $559 and free shipping

From grabagun...love mine...its flawless. Have 3k round through it now and it shoots and feels brand new,

You may want to look at Woodbury Outfitters. They had a good deal I saw this weekend.

It's comments like this one that make me want to stick with the M&P. I know there are other deals around but I've seen some of those guns in action and many of them have problems. I don't see reports about the M&P like that. Plus it's a company I've dealt with a long time and I have good relations with them. I don't really want to buy from a company that may be out of business as soon as the AR boom is over.

And no offense Chris but I only buy used from one of the local LGS I deal with or from someone I know well. I am not saying there is some reason not to trust you. The chances are very high that you are very trustworthy. I just can't afford even a small risk of trouble. The S&W warranty on the rifle is for the OP only. To me the warranty is worth a good bit extra. If you have a really good price on yours I might think about it. I'm not that far from Louisville. But it would have to pay for my trip and make me feel like it was worth the risk of not having a warranty. I would understand perfectly if you don't want to make me an offer like that but if you do, send me a PM. Please understand there is nothing person in what I think here. I appreciate you even thinking about it actually.

BTW bb21, woodbury is the primary place that got me thinking about getting a AR. Them and Palmetto. Both had really good deals for a short time. Neither has any in stock at the time. Woodbury continues to list them at $499. I'm hoping they will get some in stock soon.

If it helps you, I have 1k through mine now (only 5mo old), and it's been flawless as well... Castle nut staking is good, gas key staking is still good, plenty of excellent accuracy reports out there, and the fit/finish is great. Trigger is pretty good too, as far as milspec triggers go.

Going to be putting it through a class this spring.
