I can't find a lot of solid info on the web regarding recoil reducers, or what I'm most interested in - are they reliable, and does it help muzzle flip?

I am thinking about purchasing one for my PPQ, but I don't know if they work, which is the best, etc..
Or do I just add a little weight to the front with a light (TLR-3), or tungsten guide rod?
Snake oil or worth the money?
