This has probably been covered a 1000 times here but wanted to share, I received my kit today and installed. It is very cool and I can see why it would reduce recoil and not allow the slide to slam.

The kit comes with a very well made guide rod and two springs. The gold, lighter of the springs is made if you shoot lower weight, the silver higher.

I installed the silver - there is a silvered metal cap for the gen 4's that goes in the front recoil rod hole. Then you put the recoil spring on the rod, compress and insert...THAT part on the silver is tough as the spring is twice as long as the rod...eventually you get it compressed down enough, slip the front end of the rod in the hole, then the back plate as normal. Reassemble the slide and rack. Wow...you can feel why the recoil would be reduced.

I hit the range tomorrow with some 115gr ammo to see how it works out.

Looks nice. Looking forward to your evaluation. Is it supposed to improve accuracy, or provide some other benefit? I don't find recoil with the 19 to be a concern.

Hope it works well for you. Just be sure to put at about 200rds through it before you trust it for SD/HD. at the IDPA match I was at yesterday, a guy had six malfunctions with his G34 because he had put in new RSA, striker spring and not really tested it.

I had reliability concerns as well. Years ago a fellow officer bought a personal 23 and installed a "Fire Dragon" recoil system in it. He carried it for a couple months before quals without shooting more than a half dozen rounds. When qualification time for off duty carry guns came around, the pistol would have 2-3 misfeeds per magazine. We removed the FD and replaced it with a stock unit and the gun ran fine. Test it thoroughly if it's to be used for anything other than a plinker.

Its going to get those 200 rounds today

Going to the range ( I know, I know...easter sunday)...But we have family plans..including having our son bring a buddy from his ship (he is on the Nimitz here in Everett) who has no family close, etc...For a nice family Easter dinner. Our way of saying thank you.

I watched a video on the DPM...supposedly, typical Glock 19 recoil creates a 39 degree upward angle, recovery and second shot. With the DPM, it is 31 degrees and faster recovery to the second shot.

I didn't do it for the double tap. I want to see if the less recoil help me get on target faster and better accuracy from less recoil. Plus, it is better for the gun as the slide does not slam into the frame as it recycles. so a win win all around...

Will report back !!!

As to reliability...this thing has been around a LONG time for glocks...many gens...for the gen 4, they added that front washer ...

This review is from 2005 !!

If you search the net for "DPM SYSTEMS GLOCK REVIEW" you wil find many owner testimonials..

Will you be shooting any defensive ammunition with it, or just target ammo? I look forward to your review!

And Happy Easter from the other end of Puget Sound. Good on you for having your son's buddy over for dinner. That's really nice of you and your family.

both...

I have a really good variety of ammo..124gr defensive, 115gr fmj, and 115 reloads. I also have new 95gr fmj...so I will see how it handles all or if it is spring sensitive

Also bringing the lighter spring just in case...

Range Report !! with pictures (the best type..lol)

Okay, so first the good news (there is no bad), It operated flawless with everything I threw at it. shot almost 200 rounds using 3 mags loaded to 14 cartridges each. I will tell ammo type and range for each but rundown here:

  • Remington UMC 115gr
  • Federal Premium 124 hydra shok
  • Reloads 115gr fmj
  • PMC bronze 115gr

I didn't have anything less and you can see the range is from self defense to basic target ammo and reloads.

Also note, I am still a beginner shot. With that said, for me, it was easy to make groupings in and around the bull and the less recoil/fast recover was awesome. WELL WORTH THE 80 bucks !!! Like shooting a different gun..a better gun.

REMINGTON UMC 115gr - distance 25ft - slow even aimed shots - 10 rounds..some actually went through the same holes

Took it home, striped, started cleaning...LOL

Once you get the hang of compressing the spring its easy to get back in..be patient and do it on a flat surface (with a towel so you don't scratch the gun)

Hope this helps people considering it...I found it well worth it as I felt I had MUCH more control in placing shots...
