Thanks to work and the eternal honey-do list I still haven't had a chance to take this out and burn some powder. I have to admit the smaller navy type grips do not feel as comfortable as an 1860 to my big hands. Do any of you Dance owners have any recommendations or tips? Thanks.

Find a set of Army grips, trigger guard & grip frame on eBay or GunBroker and switch out. It's more authentic anyway - the inset is a real Dance & Bros. revolver from the Smithsonian. LINK

I swapped out the Navy grips for Army grips but you need to get PIETTA Army grips to be sure they will fit the gun. I'd post a photo but this dumb website requires a URL.

+1 on gettin' the Army grips.
I like Navy-sized better, so I'm happy.
I bought two Dance revolvers over the Winter.
Can't wait to shoot 'em.

I'm a noob here and to other BP forums, and have just recently purchased a Pietta 1851 Navy .36 steel frame. I know that the different manufacturers (Pietta, Uberti, and the older, early ASM, etc., and guns from Navy Arms years ago) vary widely insofar as manufacturing specs go.

I'm looking at the repro Dance and Brothers below and am hoping that the fit of the wood to the trigger guard is better than the photo shows, but I think not. I have noticed that on pictures of many other C&B revolvers (Colt/Rem/Army/Navy/et al). It seems that finish is important but wood fit is of secondary concern on many pistols viewed here and elsewhere.

Maybe that's just a byproduct of "if it works, shoot it!" that I have to get used to.

That would never work in the world of modern firearms, but I can understand completely pertaining to mid-19th-century replica firearms that the BATFE has no jurisdiction over (except in a few cases such as conversion guns).

So, that is why I am learning and appreciate any insight as to my lackings!

Jim
