help me pick a pocked pistol I have a 3" SP 101 it's just to big for pocket carry
so i was looking at the LCR i see they have in a 9mm. would a 9mm be better
in a short barrel then a 38 / 357 I will also be looking at S&W. just want to get
the right pistol the first time
Thanks

I don't like any revolver that requires moonclips. Id sooner buy the 357 version and load it with 38+p.

Ruger did just release a new SP101 in 327. Some of us are hoping for an LCR 6 shot in 327, but that's probably a ways off.

I had a 642 Airweight. It was a good gun but too small for my hand.

didn't think about moonclips for the 9mm so that will take that off my list can you tell me more about the 327
is this a nitch caliber in be tween a 9mm and a 357

There are several threads about the 327 cartridge and guns that fire them going right now. Check out the ballistics on Ballistics By the Inch website. Impact energy is impressive for a 32 cal slug, but it is lighter than a 357 bullet. Availability is spotty. Look it up on Wikipedia too.

The benefit is that it hits hard enough for self defense, but you can fit 6 rounds in a small cylinder.

There's a lot of pros with that round. But there are some cons as well.

One other thing to note is that a 327 Fed mag chambered gun can also fire 32 H&R magnum, 32 S&W Long, and 32 S&W.

I have a S&W Model 649 (all stainless steel), and a Model 638 (aluminum alloy frame/stainless steel barrel and cylinder). I got the 649 some time back and liked to conceal carry it with an OWB holster during cold weather months when I would be wearing a coat or jacket. Being all steel the gun soaks up recoil from even some hot reloads fairly well and it's decent enough to control with the factory stocks and a Tyler T-Grip adapters. I picked up the 638 a couple of years ago when I was looking for a lightweight J frame I could carry IWB or pocket carry during the warm weather months. I have always liked the shrouded hammer design while still having the ability to practice with the guns in single action mode.
