S&W Model 27 w/ 3.5 : bbl. It shows some holster wear. The warranty indicates the gun was shipped in 1955. Serial # is S198xxx, so not sure exactly the year of mfg.

She passed on this Titan .25 last year.

Along with the Smith was a pair of E. Leitz Wertzal 10x60 binoculars. They are large to carry but the glass is excellent. Her husband bought the glass for $50 in 1951. He passed away last year and now she is downsizing. The grandson (not my son) got a nice collection of rifles and shotguns.
About the bullets. I don't know if they become collectable but there are a few Peters .38 sp.
Just crowin...:neener::neener:

Congrats on the guns and the MIL. Pretty sure mine has no guns and I don't think she even likes herself, much less anyone else.

Damn!

She sure didn't leave you out with that sweet 27 and the Gold Box!

Oh and BTW if you don't already know it $50.00 was serious geld in 1951, and the Krauts made the best glass!

Congrats!

P.S. It will take some serious rifle/shotgun collection to out-step a 3 1/2" 27 in the box! I guess you know Patton packed one of it's predecessors as his "killing gun", his other hip wore a Colt SAA in .45 Colt. The 3.5 I believe is the least common length. Wowser! I know exactly nothing about the Titan.

It sure looks like a 357 magnum (Pre model 27) if it shipped in 1955. S&W didn’t stat model numbers until 1957/1958ish. According to the SWSC, that serial number, puts it 1959/1960 (S194500 to S206999) time frame.

But either way, I'd sure like to have a MIL like that.

Now imagine if you had multiple wives and mother-in-laws!

Great six shooter! Congratulations.

My MIL has a CCW and for a while was a certified deadly weapons instructor, carries a Colt DS. She has bought me more firearms than you can shake a stick at for Christmas over the last nearly 25 yrs. and never uttered a cross word in that time. She is not the stereotypical MIL, she is a real beauty and not just on the outside but on the inside where it counts most. I hit a home run with her as a MIL.

Congrats to the original poster, very nice!!!

Call me a bit strange if you must,,,

Call me a bit strange if you must,,,
But when my 17 year marriage folded,,,
I missed my mother-in-law more than anything.

She was a huge colonial era buff,,,
I had given her an 1740's Belgian Trade Musket,,,
She came home one day and it was mounted over her fireplace.

It originally was a 12th year birthday present from my family,,,
I had always thought it was an extremely cool old gun,,,
But never appreciated it as I couldn't shoot it.

When the ex and I split,,,
She tried to give it back to me,,,
She cried when I told her it was a gift of love.

I rarely think about the ex at all,,,
But I think about the ex MIL quite often.
