I am interested in a NIB Henry H001, Classic. Has anyone tested off SANDBAGS or BR to see what CONSISTANT accuracy it will maintain w Target/Match at 50 yards? Anyone tried with Norma TAC-22 Target, which is my normal. Will the 3 shot groups fit inside a 3/4" diameter or a Nickel, consistently?

I'm looking for HONEST answers b/4 I buy. Yes, I understand, each barrel is not the same and have to test several mfgs Match/Target ammo. Are there serious Henry Users with Henry accuracy in mind b/4 they purchased? Yes, this rifle is NOT a target rifle. Comments?

Check out the Henry section on Rimfire Central.

Lots of good info.

Saving my $$$ to get a Henry Frontier Octagon 22WMR.

You may not get a lot of answers, that entry level Henry probably isn't used much with target or match ammunition.
Very little reason to. :)

I'll be seeing a number of club members Wednesday morning and will do some investigative work. Perhaps a few of them will have the Henry h001 and let me tryout some Wednesday morning. There are Pistol, Trap, HP, SAS, CMP, BR, collectors, etc..... people to touch base with on the Henry. :)

I really like the LIGHT weight of the Henry h001. Then scope it.

You should NOT expect 1" or less at 50 yards. I have had two H001T's. The closest I came was with top shelf ammo. It is a John Wayne type fun rifle for plinking and accurate enough for small animals, but that is about it.

The Golden Boy my friend has seems fairly accurate for what it is. Lever guns generally aren't as accurate as bolt action guns but I suspect they can be. I just know I was able to get a pretty consistent pattern with bulk ammo. I never tried a bunch of ammo in it but I think 1" at 50 yards is doable.

All i can tell you is, no crow is safe at 100 yards when i have mine in my hands, when it's loaded with hi-speed ammo, and i'm using the factory iron sights...

i plink with the golden boy iron sites and buy only cheaper bulk ammo. the 40 gr. solid winchester m22 is more accurate than the others for me.

I have fired full magazine groups well under 1" with RWS pistol match ammo (it was basically the only thing available at the time). Even with bulk plinking ammo, groups are usually around an inch with a few flyers opening it up. Most Henrys are as accurate as any other sporter type .22. It will never be an Anschutz, but they are capable of better accuracy than most people would think.

well,Im no expert, but I let my good friend who was in the military shoot mine ,and he loved it. I put a scope on it because my eyes arent too good.

Meh, I'll keep my 10/22. It'll shoot 1" at 50 with Eley match, 1.5 with about anything else. If I want more accuracy, I go to my 50 year old Remington bolt gun. It'll put RWS Target into one ragged hole at 50. Lever guns are fun guns and the Henry sounds like it could be a lot of fun as a plinker or squirrel rifle, anything practical, but it won't satisfy the accuracy perfectionists. My problem with 'em is zamak receivers and the price of 'em. I just don't do zamak, especially when I can get a steel rifle for the same price or less.

I would think most any .22 should shoot 1" at 50 yards from my understanding. My Marlin Model 60 will do 1/2" at 50 yards and will do 1" at 100 yards. I hope you get a shooter. Those are nice looking guns.

I'm just wondering what "steel" lever action 22 you can get new, for the price of a Henry lever??

And now you know why I don't own a .22 caliber lever gun. My .357 caliber 92 Rossi loaded with a 105 SWC over 2.3 grains B'eye in .38 brass does a danged good job of imitating a .22 lever gun, though. It's fun and it's steel and I gave 197 bucks for it, okay was 28 years ago. :D I own 3 other .22 LRs and a .22 magnum all of which I'm perfectly happy. The best shooters are my Remington 512X I got for my ninth birthday and my Remington 597 magnum. The Chiappa M1 .22 and my 10/22 are mediocre as accuracy goes, but minute of squirrel at 50 yards. I don't own a Marlin, but they're better shooters than any Henry. No, it's not a lever gun if you're hung up on lever guns, but I'm not so hung up on levers, myself.

As to what can you get for a steel lever action 22 for the price of a Henry? Marlin 39a. Haven't actually seen a used Henry for as cheap as I have seen a used 39a. Best price I have seen for the main was 175otd(for two different ones), haven't paid more than 280otd for any of mind. Patience and pawn shop's. Best of luck.

gosh I hate saying it depends, but it really does :)

With a scope I believe my Henry would probably be able to achieve what you are looking for. But I am of the mindset that scopes don't belong on a lever action :barf:

I put a different set of sits on mine and extremely pleased with the outcome.

Here is a full review along with pictures of the sights.

I've yet to see a 39A for $200.00 or under and the ones I've seen that look like crap have been $240.00 and up...

I've bought a couple used like new Henrys for $200.00 ea. and they are STILL working perfectly!

I have a Henry H001 I bought several years ago that is really fun to shoot. Very reliable, and cycles everything I shoot in it. Accuracy, no. I can get better groups with any of my CZ's at 50 yds than I can with the Henry at 25.
