I just picked up one of these and was wondering if others here may own one and know what it likes to dine on. This is the carbine rifle, 1/9 twist.

I managed MOA at 100 yards from both American Eagle 50 gr. varmint tip and 55 gr. gun show bulk. It didn't seem to like Black Hills 69 gr Match King.

Thanks

Sorry, not sure what it likes best but I also got one a couple months ago and it's definitely my favorite shooter with a 4x scope.

BTW give the bolt some time to wear in. Mine was very balky the first 500 rounds or so.

Here's a great tutorial on adjusting the trigger. Mine breaks like glass now.

Check your barrel twist. My varmint version was stamped 1:12, but is actually 1:9. I've been pushing 50gr Z-Max under 1moa.

My .223-CZ 527 likes Varget at 25 or 25.5 grains with the 55g Hornady V max or Nosler 55g Ballistic tip and the 60 g Vmax. groups 0.543 at 100 yds off the bench with these 3 bullets. I use CCI small rifle primers and Win brass. this rifle is equiped with a Nikon Monarch scope 3x10x40mm.

This rifle also groups under 1 inch with H4895 and IMR 4064. it does a little better with Varget.

This CZ 527 is definitely the most accurate rifle I own, I have TC Venture 7mm08, Rem 760 -30-06,(Both the 7mm08 and 06 shoot 1 moa with my handloads) and a 44 mag Handi Rifle.

1 MOA with bulk ammo, sounds like a great rifle and operator.

As to the fact it didn't like the 69 gr Black Hills, are you sure on the twist rate? The carbine only recently went to 1:9 twist. I know rifles can stay at a shop for years and even though the gun is new it might have been there 7 years or more.

How bad was it with the Black Hills?

Mine is a CZ 527 .223 REM Varmint. So, not the same barrel, so I can't really tell you what you should expect.

I imagine the carbine barrel will show effects from heat more quickly, so did you shoot the Black Hills at the start, or end, hot or cold, etc.?

The Black Hills was the third group out of the barrel, there was a target change after the first two groups so I think barrel was not hot per se.

I've had great results with the Black Hills 69 grain with other rifles myself. But, it patterned just like my other rifle that doesn't like it, a Ruger Gunsite Scout .556, the letter "L" is what it looked like, about 4 MOA.

This is what mine does with Black Hills ammo, shooting off the hood of a truck with sand bags.

My accuracy is just ok with my 527 American. Even using handloads, I struggle to get 1 MOA with the gun.

I think mine is in line with yours for any given 3-shot group, it's with a 5-shot group I see things open up.

Bikemutt;

Mine's a 1:12, and that's just the way I want it. It's certainly accurate enough, but then I load for it also, never had a factory round through it. I'm using the Sierra 50 grain Blitzking and N133, deadly on any small varmint up to coyote.

When I want to shoot heavier bullets, I go to a bigger bore size. The 6mm Remington with 75 grain Hornady V-Max's may just be my most accurate varmint rifle. The 50 grain Sierra's kill coyotes, the 75 grain Hornady's moiderate 'em!

I recently got a .223 CZ 527 Carbine. So far it's seemed to do well with both 55 gr Remington UMC (L223R3V) and Hornady 55 gr FMJ-BT (80275). Today I got some Fiocchi 62 gr FMJ (223C) for next trip to the range. Since the twist rate is 1:9, I want to try heavier bullets.

Yesterday I tried some Hornady 223 Rem 53 gr V-MAX® Superformance®. Hornady claims 3464 fps at the muzzle from a 24" barrel.

After a 5-shot MOA group with gun show bulk to warm the rifle up, I went for a similar group with the V-MAX; it was simply horrible. The group was 5-6 MOA, looked more like a pattern. Tried another, same thing.

So, I ran a couple groups of the V-MAX through my Savage 10 bolt rifle; sub-MOA for both.

At least I know what the CZ doesn't like, which is fine since that Hornady V-MAX is quite expensive.
