My Wife was willed a beautiful .25-20. The dies and powder are already on order. Anyone who can help me locate some ammo, brass or bullets would be in our future will. Also, any ideas on what you may consider to cast for this round. Heck, if I do find everything. How would you design your load? I've casted and loaded everything from a 9mm to 3" cannons but this is proving to be a bit more of a challenge. Thank you one and all for help and direction.

A friend of mine has his grandfather's 25-20. He buys ammunition when he sees it but I am not sure he has seen any recently.

Also, he is getting into reloading and we did some research and 25-20 cases can be made from 32-20 cases.

I use a Hornady 60 grain flat point, CCI 400 primer and 11.2 of 2400. Hornady lists 15 grains as max. I would keep it low to medium velocity depending on the condition of your 92.

A 92 Winchester will shoot better, and closer to the sight regulation with the 86 grain FP bullets it was designed for.

Mine scatters the 60 grain Hornady like buckshot on the target.

It shoots the 75 gran Speer pretty good.

It shoots the 86 grain Remington real good, and right to the sights.

Here is a good read on it from the 2000, Legacy of Lever-Guns published by Rifle magazine.

Are you wanting info for the 25-20 Winchester or the 25-20 Single Shot like the Stevens 44 1/2? They are not remotely the same other than the caliber of the barrel.

You'd be a lot better off finding brass and reloading it. I work at a large sporting goods store, there was one box of 25-20 cartridges on the shelf as of last week, they were asking $72.00 for the 20 round box! Plenty expensive shooting my friend.

Badman Bullets here in Oregon has a cast 85gr 25-20 rnfp bullet.
if you want some to try pm me and I'll be happy to send you some. I load them in 25-35 and they work good for me.
