Howdy,

Hi,

I have a thing about gunbelts and have been buying a few nice belts a year, High Grain Horsehide as well as Cape Buffalo are displayed in the images below. The maker is Carl at Exodus Gun Leather, a great guy. I have a 1911 pankcake holster and cartridge holder that match the burgundy horsehide belt. (I wish I had chosen a brass round buckle for the natural color belt). These are better than the pics and I wear them for dress a well as use..

I suspect they are attached with Chicago screws and you could just buy a brass one and replace it yourself.

They look great, by the way.

Yes they are attached with chicago screws but on another makers belt I could not get the screw to give for the like of me. Maybe it was loctited or glued?

I don't want to ruin a screw or belt.

Chicago screws are easily replaced, and it is not uncommon for makers to loc-tite them ( I do ) to prevent them from backing out over time/use. All nice rigs - like the buffalo the most myself!

If they are loc-tited how do you remove them?

Depends on what they used. With blue, I press the face of the screw down on a piece of rubber which grips the head, and they will let go. If it's red your not getting it out. If it's just stubborn or cross threaded the first method will work.

Most all adhesives will let go with heat; a soldering iron on the screw for a few seconds will usually make it let go.
