(Mod, I appear to have messed up. Will you please move to the blackpowder forum?)

I came across these photos on my computer, and I realized I never shared pictures of my TVM made "Southern Rifle" with my fellow High Roaders.

To date, the most I've ever spent on a gun. I've had it over a year now, and my wife has just about forgiven me. It now hangs in the dining room in all its glory, between frequent firings, of course.

It's a .45 caliber, small Siler lock, awesome double set triggers, 42" barrel (if I remember correct).

Now that is what a rifle should look like!!! TVM does excellent work and that rifle proves it. What barrel did you get??

What a work of art! Gratefully my Wife allows me to pick a gun out of the safe and park it somewhere in the house where I, er... we can admire it for a while. I think you got me beat! Not to be gauche, but what does a functional work of art like that cost?

Very nice rifle.

I bought a used one for $775 that is similar but a single trigger with no patchbox. 6 3/4 lbs. makes it nice to carry.

Thanks Crawdad 1! And I thought my black guns cost me a bit! Hooha! Nice! If we ever get the home here sold our retirement is in TN. Might have to get me one of those to fit in.

Thanks all! Yes my favorite thing is the weight. It's under 7 pounds even with that big 'ol barrel. She shoots straight and true and goes bang every time I pull the trigger(s). It's been a while since I bought her, so I don't obsess over the specs like I did when I was deciding what to buy. That said, I'm fairly sure it's a Colerain 13/16" barrel. Having trouble remembering a lot of minor details.

I think I paid about 1700 with the "++ flamed maple" or whatever they call this grade of wood.

Awesome looking rifle. I'll try to post some photos today of my mothers Pedersoli made long rifle, I am not sure what style you would call it. She won it in a drawing during the 1976 bicentennial here in PA.

If you want to order one of their custom rifles you better do it now as they have a long waiting list. TVM offers great components combined with excellent craftsmanship at a good price, you can't beat that combination. :)

I kinda favor those Southern Mountain gun myself.

All three are .40 caliber. Scratch built. Siler locks and Douglas barrels. The Flintlock rifle and pistol stocks are from the same piece of wood.

Good lookin suckers, Iggy! For my money, I don't think there's a more beautiful weapon ever made than the various american long rifles. Maybe the colt SAA comes close.

That's one sweet looking long rifle you've got there. Went to the TVM website and they certainly have quite a few different models to choose from. I think I like the Tennessee and the Early Lancaster rifles the best. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! There's only one thing I don't like about it- it's hard to take photos that do it justice because it's so damn long. LOL! Hard to fit it in the frame without it being too small to see on the computer screen or warping the proportions because of the angle.
