Hello all first time poster long time lurker. Well I like my centerfires and rimfires I have a special place in my heart for blackpowder firearms. I started with a Pietta 1860 Army than a CVA Hawkens then I got a Lyman Deerstalker for my son and his fellow boyscouts. Later I got a kit Hawken pistol to work on my gun bilding skills. Today the firearm I always wanted came in. A 1858 Remington carbine from Uberti. Gonna take em all out this weekend and celebrate Memorial Day.

I hopefully will be picking up another 1858 Remington revolver soon and later plan to save up and get a pennsylvania or tennesee flinklock kit that I will pimp out but for right now Im happy with what I have

Welcome to the forum!

Have a good, safe time on Memorial Day.

Thanks to ALL our vets, those who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who by the grace of God are still with us. It is due to them that we are here today.

Welcome and you have some fine shooting irons there, I have a carbine like yours and have found that I get quite a blast in the face when shooting it... similar to bugs in the face on a motorcycle so make sure you have good eye protection.

That Hawken pistol is really a Kentucky pistol being that it is stocked to the muzzle and doesn't have a barrel wedge. Nice guns though. Have fun. :D

This is a Hawken pistol....

Welcome, Chet, and thank you for your service and sacrifice. Good show on the Remingtons, my personal favorites. That picture of 19th century arms on 20th century woodland shows some proud lineage.

Looking at your pictures of the Hawken and Deerstalker, I'm starting to get that old twitchy feeling; and my wallet is mumbling "here we go again".

A big welcome, USMCChet. You have a fine stable of bp guns. I started off the same as you did but around 50 years ago. I'll post a pic, here, of my new pride and joy. It will fill my deer tags this season.
