Re-size full length, clean, tumble, or whatever you do to shine it up and re-measure. Trim if over 1.760 to 1.750 and shoot several times and check again. My new brass is usually 1.745 from Starline and 1.754 from Lapua. AR or Bolt gun? Chambers are different.
Found a box of 40 rounds of 22-250 ammo I loaded over 27 years ago hiding in my loaded ammo cabinet. According to the load data on the box they are 55gr Sierra SPBT bullets loaded with 38.0 Grs of H-414, CCI 250 primers, new Federal cases and a COAL of 2.380". This was my most accurate ground...
My HS-6 load for a 124gr V-Crown is 6.6gr. Shoots very well in all my 9mm guns with a standard CCI SP primer. Most accurate bullet in all my pistols also.
All my pistol dies are RCBS carbide that replaced the old steel dies I started with many years ago. I bought Lyman crimp dies for 9mm & 40 S&W to add to the mix last year.
I have learned a few things over the years from working and reloading. Haste makes waste and tomorrow is another day. Since I started reloading as a young high school student around 1960 or so I have loaded for 7 different pistol rounds, 17 centerfire rifle calibers including 2 custom tite-neck...
I circle my primers with a sharpie, red for magnum primers, blue for sub-sonic, purple for ladder loads, and color of the day for other loads with the proper notations in my journals to keep track of things. I also write the charge weights on the cases with the proper primer color to match the...
A 17 hmr 15.5 gr bullet hardly leaves a hole in ground hogs. I try to keep a couple of local pastures in NC free of the critters. From 25 to 150 yards they work very well.
1962 and started with 30-06. I was raised on a small farm and learned early to use a lot of tools and loved reading Jack O'Conner in my Outdoor Life magazines. Mowed yards to buy my first rifle in 1962 (I was 11). Found a used Savage model 110 for $65.00. Bought a RCBS single stage press and...
I have 2 tite-neck old school wildcat rifles, a 6mm/284 and a 257 WSM made from a necked down 270WSM case. Neck turning is not my favorite thing to do so I can burn more powder, but they sure do shoot very well.
...of years and never had any problems. I weighed every charge back then so I really don't think it was a double charge. The temperature was at -5*F and I had been outside for at least 2 hours. The cylinder split on the chamber of the round that blew up and swung open. I suffered no physical...
2 inexpensive camera tripods and a 10' piece of 3" PVC pipe. Place muzzle of firearm at one end, line up with chrono with the other end and no more KIA chronographs. If round touches the inside of the pipe, difference in velocity will be virtually 0%. Always wanted to do this and now I'm going...
Have 181 pieces of 6MM Remington brass from Winchester that I bought in the early 90's for a rifle that is no longer chambered for that caliber. It has been wet tumbled, resized, annealed and trimmed. It is ready to load. Anybody looking for some brass? Or should I start looking for another 6MM...
I read this thread some time ago and tried the V-Crown 9mm 124 gr bullets in a couple of M&P EZ's along with Sierra 90gr JHP's, Hornady 115 XTP's and Remington 115 FMJ's. The difference in those pistols was amazing. At 7 yards the groups went from poor buckshot groups to very tight 2" groups for...
My XX YO grandson has been shooting skeet and trap in tournaments for 3 years now. He started loading his own shotgun shells 4 years ago with his dads' supervision. He has also loaded pistol rounds for family range time under my supervision and his dad. His elementary school has an archery team...
