I enlisted Marine Corp 1960 got out 1965 just after Starlite. This may get me kick off this site and I don't care. 1968 there was Draft and how you miss it ? In fact this is my last post here
One of my 30-338 mag I use that Berger 185gr VLD and had good luck here in Co on bull tag. Myself I use that 190gr VLD and both are same except on weight. You could run Berger ballistic just change ALT to where son hunt see how close everything is
I use both and both (Accubond/Partition) 30 cal have same Optimum Performance Velocity. The back holds together better on Partition because of the Crimp Lock.
Nosler manual #9 page 22/23 shows picture at same velocity for both. and WR.
I use 10-10 scale. I've had 2-RCBS digital scales and they last about 6/7 yrs. I use them weighting bullets/case capacity and case weight. Doesn't bother me replacing digital.
Here in Co you have to pack Horse Feed.
Horse Feed

Boots Obermeyer started lot in barrel business like Brux,Kreiger,Mike Rock and some others. Head guys at Bartlein worked for Kreiger.
I've got 6 rifle with barrels listed. I also have rifles with Lilja,K&P,Hart,Rock Creek.
I replace stems when they first came out and got VLD for case trimmer. As long as seating depth is same on bullets you want to use it's great other wise you have to adjust stem. That is downs side.
If you like how existing rifle handles you may find contour that match close so you won't have to do lot stock work. You might want to talk to gunsmith about that.
Years ago 1995, Varmint Hunter Magazine had article about 223AI on Rem action with 271/2" barrel,1/14 twist barrel. 40gr @ max 3925fps,50gr @ 3701fpps and 55gr @3559fps.
I shot one for couple years. Now shooting 222AI great PD rifle.
Barnes has never posted that bullet jump will work in every rifle. This is what they post, your rifle may prefer a bullet jump of anywhere between (a minimum of) .050” up to .250” or more.
I like Leupold 3.5x10 on most of my hunting rifles. I drew Co archery buck tag, rifle bear tag, rifle elk tag and plan on taking 280AI using 175gr ABLR @ 2941fps for elk and 30-338mag for bear tag. I can still see 5 pins on my bow sight.
I'll be 80 in 6 month, got to love being old.
All deer tags here in Co are draw tags.. DOW issue tags based on buck/doe population for given game units. The better game units take years to draw. Before we had draws you could draw what is still call early buck tag and took me 14 yrs to draw game unit 44 which include units 45/444 in...
