The link I posted for "The Gunshop" may have everything you need so there's having to go 2 or 3 places to get your parts not including the extra $$$ paid in shipping!
What size tang do you need? Is it a 15/16" or 1" barrel?
Try looking at Track of the Wolf. When you get to the listing below, the first top two items have to do with the Thompson-Center tangs which is the piece you are talking about. There are two sizes, 15/16" for 50 caliber and 1" which...
Thanks for your answers,guys!
The guy thats going to do it for me also said they had rust bluing in the 1850's era, so he said although either one would be period, browning is the better finish. BTW, this guy builds muzzleloaders for a living.
Hi Jaymo,
I'm not familiar with the...
I recently acquired an older Thompson-Center Hawken in 54cal., and I was wondering what y'all thought about browning the barrel.
The finish is a little worn and the bluing looks more like its a matte finish but it still appears in serviceable condition.
I realize it will never be a "real"...
Its not exactly a bad day at the range but it was miserable none the less!
About 34 years ago I went hunting with two of my best friends on Maryland's Eastern shore for deer & squirrel if time allowed.
We got to the hunting ground before daybreak so we decided we should go get in place...
Hey guys,
I'm in the process of getting another stock made for my commercial FN Mauser 98 in .270 Winchester.
This is going to be a gift for my sons' birthday this November.
I bought a nice piece of Turkish walnut from LUXUS WALNUT that didn't break the bank, plus it was under...
I got a fair deal on Gunbroker about 2 months ago. I traded one rifle for another plus some cash. It wan't a "I just gotta have it" type of deal, but I won't lose a dime if I ever had to sell!
The rifle I got was a very nice commercial FN Mauser 98 (made 1948).
The communication & shipping...
...98 in 22-250 for a commercial Mauser 98 built or sold by Firearms International Corp. of Washington,DC
The serial number is a four digit 31** without a prefix and on the RH side just above the woodline it has a tiny FN trademark followed by 1948. Just below the woodline and below the FN...
Thanks for LMK about that. I might go ahead and get one. I used to have a Polytech AK w/milled receiver but it had terrible accuracy. It was way over 4" MOA.
Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Jim or reading his posts but I will add him to my prayers for a speedy and complete recovery after therapy & rehab.
Its a shame whenever a member of the shooting community is hurt or lost.
Best WISHES JIM!!!!!

Mickey,
I have used PHOTOBUCKET.com for about 18 mths-- 2 years with no issues. Its easy, fast, and FREE, although you can upgrade if you want.
HTH,

PS: post pics as soon as you can about the Richards stock!
...Just as soon as I told the USPS clerk what it was, he yells out "OMG, it a GUN" !
Then I was told I could not ship it ! Rather than have a P*****g contest I asked immediately for the main supervisor. While waiting I let them know I knew the rules after another employee said I had to be a...
Is it possible to extend the heigth on 2 piece pivot type scope mounts? With the help of another member I have located a set of Weaver pivot mounts but I'm unsure of their heigth.
I was told by the ATK/Weaver Co. today that their were two sizes made which were Low & Medium. I have plans to...
I was looking at using a Bell & Carlson stock for a Mauser 98 standard length action. This action was made by FN and its a commercial version.
One stock in particular from Bell & Carlson, a thumbhole "monte carlo" #T101, will fit the japanese & US receivers ok, but the german receivers need...
I had a MAS 49/56 in the original French 7.5 mm chambering in "96 or "97. That thing would shoot like "there's no tomorrow" all day long or until you ran out of ammo!
Unfortunately, at the time the 7.5mm ammo could be hard to come by and "IF" you found some it was usually expensive. Anyone...
When I carried a 1911 at work I would clean about 3-4 weeks then wipe down during the fall and winter and during the summer when you're likely to sweat I kept it wiped down regularly.
Now that its not carried (but close by) I wipe it down now & then. The long guns that are put away get a wipe...
Try using "Circa 1850 Furniture stripper" . It comes in a thin or thick formula and it works VERY QUICKLY!
The fumes aren't terrible but ventilation is a good idea. You will need a cheap paint brush, 00 steel wool (I used 0000 wool), and RUBBER GLOVES.
I can't emphasize the gloves enough...
I bought a Mossberg (2 3/4 & 3" mag)12 gauge bolt action with wood stock & poly choke back in the mid 70's . I forget the model number. My buddy had a 20 gauge bolt action Mossberg too.
Years later I recall that the Mossberg, while not exactly a thing of beauty compared to todays shotguns ...
