Another option (who I placed my "pre-order" [April shipment] with today) is Aim Surplus. I could have gone through Dans Ammo, whom I have heard good things about, but decided to just use AIM because of the reputation they had earned on other forums I have visited...plus pictures of the AIM ones...
Well this type of mis-stamping has been seen before on several firearms, specifically those imported by Century Arms. Now there is a WASR 3 which is 223 and it is possible that this was supposed to be a 223 rifle..but I would call the importer, most likely century, and have a talk with their...
Can you post pictures of it?
EDIT:
Sorry to make the post so short, but the dang enter button got in my way and well it posted before I could addon.
It may help having pictures of what you are talking about. It may be a defect in the metal right at the point, it may be rust, etc. Pictures...
Just to give you a few other avenues

A screw extractor might be able to solve your problems (search for that) or go to a hardware store and just ask them how to remove a broken screw from wood. Needle nose pliers can't get to it can they, or maybe a magnet could work...I don't know.
Edit maybe an impact driver, or maybe just...
Another thing just to check is the firing pin and firing pin channel, just to make sure they are cleaned out and that the firing pin is able to move back and forth freely.
Disassembly for the bolt is located down a bit on this webpage:

I am wondering if safety and detent spring are defective or not properly installed by the previous owner or the importer.
I know on my makarov when I load a round, slide the slide forward to chamber around, I can drop the hammer and not have a problem, but when I took it a part I noticed that...
The trigger on the 78 I believe is adjustable (not on the 99) but it is highly regarded on the Rimfire Central forums. I would recommend reading over some of the threads.
BV
The Winchester Wildcat is a Toz 78 with a few different things. First the sighting system is different. I prefer the TOZ sights, but I should preface this and state that I have a Toz 99 and not a Toz 78 nor a Winchester Wildcat.
The Toz 78 is highly talked about on the Rimfire Central...
My advice is a little different than what most would give.
If you are looking for a surplus gun, look for something you are interested in. I only began acquiring firearms a tad bit over a year ago (though I already had a pistol in my name and some other things) because I became so interested...
I have noticed that the trend of Big 5 Mosin Nagants (usually 91/30s) follows a trend in that they receive batches of firearms. I can think of times when they receive 8 guns in my area, all rated "good" by Century and none of them i would consider buying. However I have also had times where it...
Does it look something like this:
http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAmmo016.htm
If so just make sure that the necks on the bullets are not cracked or severely dented (the one problem I have seen with Bulgarian ammunition).
I take it you ordered a replica Sharps from the Shiloh manufacturing company?
What is interesting is they have an interesting little factory (more like a modest sized steel industrial building) in Big Timber. I have never been in it, but driven by it a number of times. Seems like a decent...
Just for informational purposes I would start here:

And also for other information look here:

Anyways, several things to hit here. First you need to make the choice of a carbine (m38, m44 etc) or a full length rifle (m91/30 etc). Myself, the...
legacy,
If you look you will eventually come across one that will satisfy what you want in a mosin nagant. In the mean time, look at this website:
http://7.62x54r.net/
It has some information on each of the models and differing things to look for. To be honest I was lucky on my M38 and M44...
Strike my previous comments for now...

It seems like they charge for repair...however I am reminded that with my Nikon binoculars, they offer a warranty (I think 25 years) against defects and what not from manufacturing, but if I recall...
Yeah I remember cleaning each of my Mosin Nagants for the first time (except the ex-sniper which has not been shot by me) and remember how nasty the patches came out. I use Hoppes Elite Foaming gun cleaner and I found it works pretty well for cleaning. Romak makes a good point in that your...
I thought I would kind of post my quick story. I know I had never really been into firearms. Then I played Call of Duty and that got me some what interested into WW II firearms. Though I was still not interested completely in them. It took me a few more years, receiving the makarov, and then...
I have a Tipton rod, using patches, and a nylon brush (though for my Makarov it is a copper brush as I recall). My biggest portion of cleaning I would say is left to Hoppes Elite Foaming gun cleaner (manufactured by Pantheon Chemical ~same formula for the Mpro 7 as I recall). Works great and...
I don't have a 22 yet but I have been thinking about getting one of the TOZ rifles.
