If you carry the revolver with 6, I would think you would want to practice with 6.

    624 3” vs 625 MTN .45 Colt?

StrawHat --- Pictures of your .45acp revolvers make me drool on the keyboard ! You are slowly turning me to .45acp all the time !

    Two of S&W best ever

My vote would go to a Mod28 4in with stock grips and a Tyler T adapter. The low luster finish and absence of the 3 Ts make it look like a workhorse.

    Two of S&W best ever

I do agree with the choice of the Smith Mod 29-2, especially the 8 3/8 barrel version. But, I would also include among the best --- Smith Model 28 and Mod 25 (heavy barrel 1955 Target model).

    YES, I agree. A 1911 .45acp will do nicely.

    New S&W Heavy Duty

StrawHat --- One of my favorite revolvers on the Forum. You have an enviable array of .45acp shooters.

    New S&W Heavy Duty

That new HD Smith is nice but I will keep on shooting my old Highway Patrolman 4in. Now if it was in .45acp that would be another story.

Love the Millet sights on that Grizzly.

I would get a longer barrel (various manufacturers) and try it with the stock bushing for fitment. You may not need a new bushing. The barrel bulge is on bull barreled guns that do not use a bushing. I don't think you can convert them to use a bushing.

    New S&W Heavy Duty

I had a Smith 520. Really liked it. Shot great. The only handgun I regretted selling.
