If I had a standard 1911 with the 5" barrel and wanted a longer barrel, say like the AM Eagle without changing the frame or slide...besides the barrel, I would need a new bushing I know. Probably a srandard bushing that doesnt accommodate the barrel "bulge" found on new 1911s for lock-up. Fesable or not, any thoughts. I know this AM I have too much time on my hands.....

I would get a longer barrel (various manufacturers) and try it with the stock bushing for fitment. You may not need a new bushing. The barrel bulge is on bull barreled
guns that do not use a bushing. I don't think you can convert them to use a bushing.

Just like getting a barrel with a compensator on it: the 6” will stick out of the end of the 5” slide and will slide straight through the standard-style 1911 barrel bushing. The barrel lugs and other surfaces may need some fitting to work right, drop in parts aren’t always “ drop in”.

This is an LAR Grizzly Win Mag in .45 Win Mag as an example of what a 6” barrel with a 5” slide looks like.

Stay safe.

Thanks Riomouse!

Any operational differences or on target? I know, I know...sight radius remains the same, so I gotta do my job.

I built a 2011 a few years ago with a 6" barrel in a 5" slide, just because I think it looks cool. The extra 1" of barrel has no effect on functioning.

Then I had it Cerakoted, again just for the look.
