Vang back bores the barrel and lengthens the forcing cones, both of which help soften recoil, and both of which have been around for 30 or 40 years at least.
He also jug chokes the barrel to tighten the pattren up which has also been around for 30 or 40 years.

Alum is not the best choice for a shotgun magazine extension tube. Failures of alum tubes are fairly common in high usage shotguns. We only use steel tubes. What brand you use is up to you, we use Daves Metal Works steel tubes, but steel is the only way to go.
The difference in weight is too...
The 4" seems to have a better balance to it and it cycles quicker. The 5" has a longer sight radis making longer range shot a little easier.
Both work very well especially with a little tuning.
At this time a full trigger job involves a lot of hand work such as welding up the trigger bar and then shaping it with a hand file. They come out very nice but you really need to know what you are doing.
Within the next couple of months we will be making a replacement sear and trigger bar...

This particular XDM is going to be used for competition so I wanted the grip to be as non slip as possible. The 'film' you see is skateboard tape which is like sticky sandpaper.
