Thanks for all the help. It does seem like almost more trouble than its worth. I need to wait to hear back from the schools I have applied to, but two of the three are in the Chicago area. University of Chicago Divinity School, Wheaton Graduate School (yeah, i know, they are on two completely...
The start of the next school year, I'm probably going to end up in the Chicago area (yeah, yeah, I hear the collective groan) for graduate school. I currently live in OH and own several firearms (a 9mm and an AR15 among them). I've done some brief searching for IL and Chicago guns laws, but all...
Not that Firefly needs another fan on THR, but I'll add my unwavering support.
Also:
Lost (even had a Mosin Nagant)
Battlestar Galactica for some nice CX4 Storm action
and its not technically a TV show....but
Please tell me someone else is a fan of Red vs. Blue!
I was in the same position about a year and a half ago. Assembling the lower was easier than expected (but i did lose one of those pesky detent pins). Definitely go with an assembled upper, unless you are planning on building many ARs. I REALLY wanted a 16inch barrel with midlength handguards. I...
Last year I inherited this shotgun from my father. I also inherited a handgun which I am keeping. I have a lot of memories from the handgun but nothing really for the shotgun. My safe is getting crowded, so I was thinking about selling it but I don't really know much about it. Its probably not...
I was actually just going through the same decision myself. Had a RRA midlength, but thought it was a bit heavy and didn't balance very well for me. I wanted that exact same CMMG upper myself, but being a college student, money is a huge issue for me, and so I went with an M4 profiled barrel and...
I have a Berse FS22, which has been great for me so far. Put well over a thousand round through it so far, and its been solid, accurate, and reliable. But now, from a series of unfortunate events (mixed in with some of my stupidity) has resulted in a damaged bore near the muzzle end. Anyway, i...
XD would be my choice, for purely subjective reasons. Ergonomics are much better for me personally, and so is the trigger. I like the steel magazines too.
Glocks have that great tennifer finish though. Glocks are fine guns, I just shoot crappy with them.
Thanks everyone for all the recommendations. Still haven't decieded exactly what I am going to get, but you have certainly given me alot to think about. Thanks.
I really like the VEPR K, but one thing I'm worried about is weight. I'm a pretty skinny guy and I want something that isn't going to be too difficult to lug around alot.
I would like to have an AR, but in all honesty I don't trust myself when it comes to building things. I am quite inept at it.
I already own a Mauser and a Mosin-Nagant, plus a ruger 10/22 and a few handguns. But now I need to fill in the niche for 'Homeland Defense'. I have no problems with the AR15, though i'm a bit picky with them. But that doesn't matter because I only have about 500 dollars to spend, so they are...
I'm up near Cleveland, but I have no problem driving far. (its 12 hours to college, so anywhere in OH is nothing).
I've never been to a THR rally, but i would sure love to attend one.
Any updated info on it?
9x19 - Cheap to shoot (great for college students), tons of wonderful pistols chambered for it (too many to choose from!), and effective with quality JHPs
Of course, who could not love the .45ACP? Especially with the 1911, Sig P220, and CZ97......
and the 10mm - just wish they...
Thanks so much for all the help everyone.
You guys are awesome
Myrockfight - The perameters for my speech are pretty broad. Just a persuasive speech for five to six minutes. Preferably one on a question of policy. I have the rough draft for my outline done, and i need to start molding and...

I am currently writing my persuasive speech for my Public Speaking class in college about the conflict between gun control laws and the purpose and intent of the second ammendment.
Just wondering if anyone had any good websites, articles, or books to recommend to me for it.
One specific...
Thanks for all the help. I smacked it open with a rubber mallet. Cleaned out the bolt, and am going to try to clean out all the lacquer from the chamber. Thanks again.
