Hello all,
So like a dummy I took a Savage 99 on a trade off of facebook. I knew that the gun had a new barrel on it and something did' look right. Anyway I took it to a gunsmith to mic the barrel and test fire and to stamp the barrel as a .243 winchester.
Long story short a kitchen...
A couple weeks ago I went to a gun show in Holton, Kansas. Which is a small town just north of Topeka population around 4,000 or so. It is also the town that I grew up in. Anyway a buddy of mine had two tables one with a few odds and ends and the other with items from his and his wife's...
I have become a little fascinated with the Lee Loader Kits from this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3duhNVjAu6E
So I went to Cabelas and picked up a lee loader kit. I have been shooting factory offerings only through my Marlin 1985GS. So I have built up a fair amount of both star-line...
Just wanted to show off the new blades from Harvey King.
Mine is a #8

Harv also sent along a very nice paring knife for my wife.

Corian Scales and Black...
Here are a few pics of the new one Harvey just finished for me. I haven't seen it in person yet but I am very happy with the pictures.
Model is a #8
Ironwood scales
I assume red liners
Red Mosaic pins
If I am wrong on anything Harv can correct me.
So here is my little update to the previous thread about the XS Ghost Sights.
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=665279
In the earlier thread I was asking if anyone had much experience with this brand of sights. In particular experience with these sights on a Marlin 1895 guide...
One of the rifles we use for Hunter Education Classes is messing up on me. It is a Savage Mark I Y. We have 18 of these rifles and they have really been very good guns for our needs. However on one of the LH rifles shoots fine but when you go to extract your empty casing. The bolt slides out...
Does anyone have any experience with these sights. I picked up a Marlin 1895GS last weekend. The factory sights leave more than alot to be desired. The sights are usable but barely.
I have been searching the interwebz trying to decide between the XS, Williams, and Skinner peeps. Help me...
Well I got a email from Harvey that my Christmas order is done:). I originally told him just to stick it in the mail. Then after seeing the pictures he emailed me I decided to drive down tomorrow and pick it up in person. Man I really am a knife junkie can't even wait 3-4 days for the mail:D...
I met up with Harvey King today and was trying to convince him to raffle one of his knives. Since he is a newer member of THR. Are there any rules against such a venture. I would like to have him make a knife and post pictures of the blade in progress. Although he had a medium version of the...
There have been several discussions here on THR about the T/C Encore. Some people hate them some love them. I myself love my rifle and have 9 barrels for it.
8 of the 9 barrels have always preformed very very well. The 9th being my 28" pro-hunter in .270win has been difficult. I have...
I recently got together with my friend Harvey King and picked up the custom camp knife that I had ordered a few months back. Man is this knife worth the wait. I had told Harvey that I wanted a brute of a knife that could handle anything I could throw at it. This is what he came up with. D2...
I have no pictures. I don't have the animal. I have no proof. All I have is the sob story.
My oldest son Keigan and I went out on our property this morning bow-hunting deer. It is still the Kansas firearms season but I would rather bow-hunt. My oldest son this is his first year of bow...
So my family has decided to do a Iron Chef type competition for Christmas. We are doing a pot luck style dinner on Christmas eve. So the three ingredients i drew were. Venison, Bamboo Shoots, and Squash. All I am coming up with is some sort of stir fry dish. Not to hard yet not really all...
Well my youngest son Caleb whom is 11 years old got his first deer this evening. He missed out on hunting last year. The first day we could go out none of his coveralls or boots fit. Dang kids and growing all the time. We had bought it all new early spring on closeout. Then he caught a cold...
I am thinking of adding a .45/70 barrel to my list of encore stuff. I shoot a pro-hunter version and i really like the gun. I currently have 9 barrels for this rifle and i am thinking of adding a brush gun to the mix.
So I have been considering the addition of a barrel in 45/70 in a 24" SS...
I have posted several different pics over the last couple years of some of my custom knives. They have all been made by a gent here in Kansas. Harvey has produced some of the finest knives I have ever owned. He has been gracious enough to let me tour his shop. When I toured his shop back in...
I found what might be a good pawn shop find. Its a Savage 340C chambered in 30/30 it only comes with one magazine. I would rate the gun at 80% or thereabouts. No cracks or problems in the wood other than a few idiot marks from use. Chamber appears clean and blueing is decent. The gun...
We just got back Monday night from Sweetwater Creek Ranch in Decatur TX. The 6 members of our group left on Wednesday the 21st heading South. We arrived at the ranch Wednesday afternoon. At camp we met 8 other hunters we would be sharing the ranch and lodging with. There were two other...
I am wondering if anyone on this site has any experience with these knives. My buddy who owns a archery pro-shop gave me one today. He has just started carring these things in stock and wants a field test. The knife to be tested came complete with a sheath and 5 extra blades.
The shop...
