Does anyone have any experience with these sights. I picked up a Marlin 1895GS last weekend. The factory sights leave more than alot to be desired. The sights are usable but barely.

I have been searching the interwebz trying to decide between the XS, Williams, and Skinner peeps. Help me decide what to get. The rifle will be used for a range toy and will certainly see field use. Would like to take a deer and a couple pigs with it anyway yet this year.

i haven't used them personally, but they sponsored my Precision Multigun Spring Team match this year, giving away ten sets of $200 sights to the shooters. Talking with a bunch of folks who did have some experience with them, they were very pleased.

Thanks for the reply.

I brought the gun home and a couple boxes of HSM 405 grain bear loads. I managed a 4" 5 shot group at 50 yards off hand. I really had to study the sights and often times come off target to give my eyes a rest. Way to much work for what should be a quick reaction gun.

I know the gun and the shooter is capable of much better. Sadly my group ticked me off and I set up my archery target at the same distance. My 5 arrow group was a touch over half the size of my rifle grouping.

Stick to bowhunting.

Lol Just messing with you man. In all seriousness, I hope you get it sorted out. If you go with the XS sights, please update here with what you think of em.

I've had a set of XS sights on a Marlin since they were first made. Great for snap shooting. Takes a little practice for a more deliberate shot just due the size of the aperture. Thinking gets in the way of the instinct. I'm lucky that the Marlin stock fits me like my custom O/U ,shoulder rifle, sights line up. I recommend that you find someone with them to try before you buy. They are " snap shooter" sights not target sights. You might want a smaller peep sight.

Cheers,

ts

They are a great addition to the gun, my biggest complaint isn't the sights but the slightly canted barrel that causes the rear sight to be off center. It doesn't affect the performance but I am a bit OCD on things like that.
I have been able to shoot 100 yd groups +- 3" off the bench.

I placed an order on Friday for the XS sights from Midway. I will post a range report after I get them.
