I shot two deer this past season with a .45-70 and they didn't go farther than they could roll. No real meat damage, although I did butterfly the heart with the .45-70 on the first deer shot.

I'll stick with the take down power of the .45-70, there's no animal in North America it can't take on.

M1 carbine would be great
I was thinking about getting a M1 Carbine in the near future; they are pretty damn accurate out to 100 meters and fairly cheap to shoot as well.
Cost around 4 to 5 Benjamin’s

Is an AK your best bet?
I also have an AK-47 El cheapo, it shoots pretty well but I have had some small problems adding hardware in the recent past. The last time I shot it I ended up shooting a satisfactory group before I left the range, but I still had work to do since the scope was found to...
We'll its been shot now and its all messed up. The bullets were glancing off the inside (lower right) of the AK74 Brake/Break, thus waisting a ton of ammo when sighting it in. Once I noticed the problem I had already zeroed my gun in, ONLY ABOUT 3' HIGH AND 3' LEFT. I think I'll try to find a...

Update on the "03"
I thought I would share the photos with you now after the sight is now in place.
Now, notice the LANDMINES in the background........NOT MINE!
.
Please let me know if I installed the sight elevation upsidedown or something, the exploded view I have is a...
Here are the the pics of the 03 as requested.
It turns out I will never shoot this gun, thanks to some good info from DMK, (senior member) I found out that this "03" is 99 years old and I'm sure it was poorly heat treated. Yep 1907 was the date of manufacture; although the bayonet...
Thanks guys
I have 133 total round, 57 of which are .308 cal. ammo (Federal Premium, Vital Shock 180gr. nosler partition) I picked up last year and I have since sold the gun I owned of that caliber. I also have 47 rounds of federal Premium 150gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips and about 30 older misc...
When selling ammo, do I have to go through some federal hoops or can I just sell to anyone over 18.
Will USPS or UPS ship ammo?
what else do I need to know, if anything?
Thanks.
Big Willy
I can't count
Your right, it is eight as plainly seen in the photo.
My ex-father in-law kept saying "ten shot clip" and I guess it stuck. I never really looked too hard at them till you said something.
I always end up looking like an ass for some reason.. Ha Ha
Thanks guys.

I was given a M 1903 Springfield from WWII from a family member and he threw these in the bag as well.
I'm quite certain these are not for the Springfield. LOL
Looks like 30.06 to me but I have none to compare.
Are these for a M1 Garand?
They hold 10 rounds, and for some reason these are...
Thank's fella's
I found the parts with the help of good people at "The High Road"
All I have to do is wait for the mail man.
Sorry about the wrong name for the gun I gave in the post.
It is for a Springfield M-1903. But I think you all figured it out.
Bye for now.
Mis print
Sorry about the confution, I Found the parts at DMK's recomended site.

Thank's for all your help.
Clips Vs. Mags
Funny you mentioned that cuz I did just read that thread a day or so ago. Kinda funny because my father always called them clips when I was growing up, so I sometimes let that slip too. At least I know the difference in technical terms.
I did buy the needed parts (all four)...
Ohh Korrecsions
OK OK..... I know nothing about this gun, but I'm sure even with a little intelligence you could gather enough information to understand the question.
It seems DMK knew what I was referring to with no trouble.
Thank for correcting me though, as you guys are always looking...
Where ohh where can I find this part?
On the rear sight that flips up on the M1 Springfield 1903 it has a little elevation slide for adjusting your range and its missing.
This was Grandpa's service weapon in WWII and I would love to replace this part.
What exactly is this part called...
